How does a dump tube sound compared to running open dp

Like the title says I was wondering how does each compare in sound! I ran open downpipe for 1 day and I would never do that again. I dont see how anyone can drive like that for a long time

It really loud, but thats only when you in boost other wise its not loud......

Yeah, it sounds very similar to a open downpipe but only when your boosting and your wastgate is open.

I've done both and found the dumped wastegate more annoying than anything. I actually had my wastegate dump tube recirculated back into the downpipe since I couldn't hear myself think. They're both loud, but for some reason the dumped wastegate always annoyed me much more.

i'm running a dumped o2 right now, and as stated before, it only gets loud when your wastegate opens up and you're boosting. It kinda sounds like a dumptruck doing 120mph ...... in your face. Its pretty loud. Sometimes it annoys me, but for the most part, most other drivers/cars find it intimidating ### they dont know what it is, and that makes me smile.

Both are VERY loud. Open downpipe has a waaaaaaaaaaa and a pssshhhhhhhhhhh and o2 dump only has the psssshhhhhhhh.

I dump my waste gate exhaust.

I normally run 19psi as my max boost. If I run part throttle and get 15psi, I wont hear anything. It only dumps after I hit 19psi, and that's only at WOT. Any other time it's run like normal... nice N quite.

I wouldn't ever run open down pipe on a turbo car, but I have run open headers on my 02TransAm. It was sickly loud!!! I think it kinda sounds crapy with all the rasp, and clatter that you hear.... it doesn't sounds smooth enough to me. So I'm not a fan of open exhaust.
BUT the Waste gate doesn't bother me so much because it is just a SHSHSHSHS sound. Heck it sound like you're boosting It IS Loud though!

I run a open dump tube from my Tial wastegate. As stated, you only hear it when you get to your boost max, because the wastegat opens up to bleed off exhaust gas. It sounds awsome in my opinion, it adds to the rush. People dont know what the hell it is. It is pretty loud, but how queit is anyones car durring WOT. You only hear it when you are at your max boost, so it is normal during most driving conditions. A open DP would be load as hell all the time.

I dont agree with this.
1. if you are thinking of a open dump tube, you must be thinking about a external wastegate, so you shoulnt have any creep issues. My Tial 38mm will hold 8lbs of boost rock solid from my 50Trim. The lower the boost the harder the wastegate has to work, the higher the boost the easier it is for the wastegate (less creep).
2. a open dump tube has less back pressure so the wastegate can flow more, it dosent have to cram into the exhaust piping with the exhaust. I guess there could be a scavaging effect from the exhaust, but I dont think it would flow better then a open dump tube.

And for the record my 38mm Tial sounds nice during full boost. I thought i'd hate it but i really ended up liking after a week or two. It is pretty loud though.

i run a ported stock 2g dumped and i love when someone will rev at me, and all i have to do is downshift and put it in boost for one second next to their open window and they just fall back
