We just picked up a 93 AWD Turbo DSM for parts. It doesn't have an engine or transmission but the rear end and transfer case are both in great shape. I'm wondering seeing as the tranny is gone if we can hop the front week onto a small trailor and drag the rear wheels home. Or do we still need to flatbed it? Or could we lock the steering wheel in place and just slowly drag it on its front tires all the way home?

Thanks!

well if its still connected to teh driveshaft that will also spin. then assuming its not connected to the transfer case the shaft will slap around all over the place. Now if you disconnect teh driveshaft from the rear diff and makes sure its disconnected you "possibly" could tow with the rear wheels on the ground and the driveshaft would not spin. Now if the all teh driveline is still connected, regardless if the tranny is gone all the wheels would be trying to spin (unless its really messed up inside the tranny, doubt its that bad though) so you could disconnect the driveshaft in the rear or...

Tow it on a flatbed like it should be.

Your best bet is either to get a car trailer or tow it with all 4 wheels on the ground and someone behind the wheel. The transfer case bolts to the tranny.

he said it has no tranny though, thats what i meant, or do you mean the tranny and engine are there but theyre junk and busted?
if so, please ignore my earlier comment

Get your 12mm wrench and 12mm socket and 3inch extension jack up the back and remove the 4 bolts holding the axle to the differential case, then take 2 long zip ties and strap the axle to the side, such as the sway bar. Then you can use a 39.95/day uhaul dolly to tow it. When you get home, reverse the procedure.
