Ok so my buddy got a Tranny off craigslist that was supposed to be out of the same car. (a 1990 eclipse N/T with a 5 speed) The only problem is it is different. It looks more like my 2g turbo tranny from what we can see without ripping my piping out. It fits up but the bell housing is a little bigger. This becomes evident when trying to put the starter in with the original dust shield on the block. Also the linkage looks a little different. I was wondering how to figure out which transmission this is so we can determine if he can use it. It looks like if we modify the upper mount, change the flywheel and dust shield that he could use it. Thank you it advance.

The car has the 2.0l in it though. Is it posible that someone put the 1.8 Tranny on the car before??

It does bolt right up but the dust shield on the block doesn't match up so the starter isn't mounting in the same place (would need a bigger flywheel?). Also the linkage and the mount holes are different.

Ok I found a pic of a 1.8 and as I tought that is not a 1.8 transmission. It looks more like a stealth on the casing but not the bell housing. The first pic is a 1.8. The second is a pic of a 3000gt notice the housing is very similar but the bell is different.
