How do you jack up your Lowered Car?

I have always had trouble lifting lowered vehicles to work on them. With each one that I own I have a different technique. With my current car I have to:

1. Jack up passenger side pretty high and then place a jack stand under that sides control arm, lower car onto jack stand.
2. Then I remove the jack and place another stand behind the wheel(at jack point same side)
3. I then jack up the driver side using the control arm location and place a stand behind that wheel.
4. Once this step is done, the stand that I placed on passenger side control arm can be removed (the angle of the car is changed when lifted on driver side and moves the car from control arm to jack point stand on passenger side) and car is safely supported and the stands are not in my way while working on the car.

I hate doing this but my craftsman jack will not fit under the front bumber until I perform the first step of my wonderful proces above.

I would like to know how you guys lift your cars and what kind of jack you use.
Also does anyone know where a low profile jack made for lowered vehicle can be had?

well right now i cant jack up my car at all. The person who had this car before me instsalled Eibach Sportline springs for a 2wd and this thing is slammed to the ground. My jack wont fit anywhere under the car. I have maybe a 2.5" clearnce for my front bumper. Yes, I scrape anything not flat and speedbumps I have to pick alternate routes. Needless to say these things are coming out ASAP. I am selling them to a local DSM guy who has 2wd so it should work better.

Make 2 of these out of 2x4's.
You choose the lengths, I'd say for the longer 2x4, 2ft, and for the shorter
one, 1.5', cut angles with a miter box, cut-off saw, or if you're careful, use a circular saw with the base rotated to 45*.
I made these for my lowered Nissan Mini, back in the day...
That thing was so crushed...
If you only have 2.5" of clearance, then the longer 2x4 would have to be longer....

I thought about something like that, but I think I might use some 2x6 pieces just to make it a little wider.

Indeed, wider is much better, at least that's what she says.....

I thought about it a little while, you'd probably need to make the longer of the 2 a bit longer that way your bumper wouldn't hit the upper piece of wood.....

I do it 2 ways since my car is lowered over 2"

A. I elevate the car a little by running the front wheels over 2x4s. Then I use a low profile jack to raise it up further. Without the 2x4s, the jack will not clear the front bumper.

B. I position a set of 2x4s in front of Rhino Ramps so that the car runs thru the 2x4s on to the Rhino Ramps. The ramps themselves do not clear the front bumpers.

I always use 2x4s for my civic its a great way if your that low if not just turn your wheel all the way and try to get it under that

i start in the rear-- jack it up, place stand under 1 side - that gives me enough room to get jack under front/side.

Or i can just remove the bumper cover ( it aint that hard )

strm trpr has the right idea. my friends mr2 literally sits 1" from the ground at the front lip. jacking up the car is the LEAST of his problems when you drive on PA roads daily. :thumbdown

I have the same clearance issues on my Talon however i jack up my car all the time. Takes me less than 5 minutes to put the front end on jackstands.
Step 1:
Take your scissor jack and jack up either the driver or passenger side right behind the front wheels.
Step 2:
Then go get a rolling floor jack and place it underneath the front bumper and center it on the lower engine mount right behind the two mounting bolts.
Step 3:d
Jack up the car all the way until you can get the jackstands to sit properly.
Step 4:
Lower the car onto the jackstands.

Its very easy. The car will balance itself out when it are jacking it up from the lower center engine brace.

Put a 2x4 in front of each tire and drive up onto the wood, hopefully that gives you the clearance you need.

I drive up on 2x6's about 2ft long each and thats enought to get under mine, but its only droped 1.6 so dont know if thats needed, and works well with ramps, dam bumper any how

Not to steal this thread or anything but out of curiosity from reading this thread would it be possible to get a lowerd car on a hoist?

yeah you push up on one side of the car while someone slides the forks under it proving its not extremely low
