Im trying to reset the isc motor, but I can't get the dang plug off. Has anyone else had similar trouble?

There should be a "tab", that you push down to unlock the plug.

Yeah I noticed that, but wasn't positive if I should start yanking on it super hard just because that tab snapped down. Ill try again after class.

I am not sure what you are trying to do, but to "reset the ISC" you do not need to unplug it. It is my understanding from the VFAQ's and shop manual, you need to ground it out (terminal 10 on the diagnostic plug, by the fues box) , and the timing connector (under hood by the battery), to set the BISS. All has to be done with engine at "normal" operating temp.

Somebody started a rumor that there was a way to "reset" your ISC by disconnecting it and turning the engine on. LOL! I'd love for them to explain to me what that is going to do?

The ECU resets "homes" the ISC on power up to make sure it's where it thinks it is just like printers do with their print heads and anything else that uses a stepper motor without positioning feedback. That's the noise the ISC makes when you first turn the ignition on. The only problem is, if the ISC is bad then "homing" it doesn't do much good.

LaserDad, what your describing is setting the ISC to it's default position for adjusting the idle bypass air by setting the BISS as you mention.

I take it if I can unplug the connector to the isc when the cars running and nothing changes that the isc is bad for sure? I'v got a terrible cold idle and idle surge even when its warm and am trying to find out if its the isc.

edit: oh and thanks for clearing that up steve
