Hey guys, I just wanted to know how to burp the coolant on my 1st gen. I changed the headgasket and had to drain and refill the system, and I heard before that it is a good idea to burp it when you fill it up.

How is this done? Is it really necessary? How do I know its full?

P.S. yes, i know its strange I could change a headgasket but not know how to burp/fill coolant....

Just fill it and run it. The system will work the air out after a few heat/cool cycles.

You can also crack the radiator cap and squeeze the lower hose, then tighten. 3-4 times ought to do it.

Whenever I drain or do anything with the cooling system........and have to refill it.....
I grab the lower rad hose and squeeze it while filling....you can pump the air out by doing this and should remove most of the air.

I do this on everycar I work on and it seems to work well.
