I picked up my 1g used and its got coilovers as seen in the picture. I'm not sure how to lower it though. Theres two spinny things :) I know one is called a locking perch, but do I need a special tool or something? I can't figure out what to do. Thanks!

First you need to rinse the hell out of those things and you need a set of coilover adjusting forks. If you dont have the forks ask a buddy if you can borrow his or buy a cheap set of coilovers on ebay to replase the tools you need. Sean

you need this

Thanks guys, that was the info I needed. I'll have to go dig in the garage.

i thought they were called spanner wrenches. i'm pretty sure you can get them at the hardware store, maybe in the plumbing section? i noticed that my dad had some laying around in his garage one day.

Nope. A spanner wrench looks like a large, double-bar (square-approach) clamp, like those used in wood-working, often with alternate teeth that you swap in and out.

ps. note that "spanner" is simply the word that a large proportion of the world uses for what we call a "wrench"

I raced motocross for years and all we used was a hammer and screw driver. That looks like it would also work here since it's the same setup for the rear shock on a bike.
