How can i fix a gap where the cd player goes?
I have a big gap where i installed a pioner cd player.
I was wondering how can i fix the gap?
:toobad:I do not have the stock radio due to the fact some one broke into my car and took it.
Also i do not know how to fiberglass but i would like to learn.

Well, you can always get the pocket from Mitsu that is meant for the single din cd players. This goes under your head unit to fill in the gap and also provide you with a bit of storage. Another way is styrene. My brother had some, cut it roughly to fit the shape, taped it to the trim panel in the center, and then trimmed it to fit nice and snug.

I will have to ask my bro where he gets his. I'll let you know.

I'm not really sure how to describe it. It is used in model making (like cars, planes, etc.). The sheets come in varying thicknesses. I guess it's almost like a very heavy construction paper that doesn't bend.

Edit: Here's a pic of what my setup looks like. All the black stuff around the cd player and EDFC controller is styrene.

I kept my stock pocket in from the original radio. I installed a sony cd player. Basically I bolted the stereo straight to the bracket instead of using the sleeve that comes with the new stereo (makes it harder to steal aswell) And kept the bottom pocket ( No spaces or gaps anywhere). I will get some pics up later this weekend.

This is where N/T owners have an advantage over turbo models heh. Most if not all turbo models come with all the options--most relevant in this topic--the Infinity premium sound. Which comes with the double din stereo.

On the N/Ts without this option, it comes with a single din, and pocket underneath. What people tend to do when they buy a new stereo is get the install kit. As mentioned already, it is cheaper, and more secure just using the stock brackets. You now have spent less not buying the dash install kit which omits your pocket, use the stronger stock brackets that you actually bolt on to the dash and deck--not like those dash kits you just slide the deck in place, and you still have a din pocket.

Hi,

I'm snowborder714's brother and the maker of the trim panel in the picture above. I made that out of .040" plain sheet styrene but it was little too thin. If I were to make another one, I would use .060" instead. I used Tamiya Spray Lacquer TS-6 Matte Black to paint the trim panel to give it a finish that's a little bit shinier than flat black - it matches the interior very well and doesn't stand out at all. You can get these at tower-hobbies.com or at your local hobby shop.

The styrene is very easy to work with and can be cut with scissors. I attached it to the radio trim panel with some duct tape, carpet tape (double sided tape), and a little bit of super glue.

I'm a NT guy and my vehicle came with the factory infinity stereo :( Well somewhat, It came with a single din Tape Player from Infinity, and under it a Plain CD Player... GGGGheto! But I'm thinking of getting the factory pocket for this, I love having it, you can throw your phone in it, a few cd's... crap whatever you want almost.

Yea, anyplace should have it, they call it standard "DIN" for a reason, and that is why all decks will fit in most if not ALL cars, due to "Standard din" install.

Go to the junkyard and you might be able to score one.

Now too bad we don't use euro's ISO standard connector for stereo install.
