Hey i was just wondering how i can re-attach my sideskirt since it is hanging off as shown in the pictures. The white plastic piece on the inside is broken off. Can i just drill it on or is this a no no?

Thanks for the help guys

you could try double sided tape, although that has never worked for me in anything ive done to my car. aonther suggestion would be epoxy, its basically like glue, but if you plan on taking that off sometime in the future, epoxy might not be the way to go because im sure it isnt easy to get off. hope that helps any

Uh, no. Don't do any of that.

Drive a screw through into a support from the back side of the sideskirt (in the wheel well). That's how the front of the sideskirt is mounted as well.

DO NOT USE TWO SIDED TAPE. It doesn't work.

I had the same thing happen to my GST. Take it to a body shop and have them resecure it. They will drill it into the body on the backside and one underneath. The shop near my house only charged me 15 bucks and it took 10 mins.

Uh, don't do that either, driving screws were they are not supposed to be is stupid. How about you just go do the dealer and buy a few new clips and put it back on like STOCK.

Are you serious! =-O Don't go back to that body shop! Here is the part number! MB696120

Go buy the clips and do it right, never hack your car together.

I was offering an alternative to his solution. He said that the piece is broken off. I don't see how he can buy the clip and install it when the piece is broken off.

He is probably talking about that white piece being broken off. You can just got to a junk yard and yank some new ones if you want they won't give a shit if it is a Pick and pull. I have seen ALOT of people use double sided tape before you just gotta get STONG tape.

How can i put the white pieces back on though? They are still attached, just the prong things are broken off.

Hahaha. Cheap and fast and it holds on tight! The screw isn't even noticeable so it's all good. :thumb:

Whatever butters your muffin, sounds like you are not the only one :( I am just not a fan of driving screws into panels where they don't belong.

Whats weird is the passenger sideskirt is held on by a screw. I dont know if the previous owner did this but it works i guess haha

the same thing happened to my car, just buy some new plastic screws from a mits dealer, they are cheap. Then epoxy the brackets if they are broke as i am assuming they are if you do it right it will just pop right back together with the new plastic screws.

when you say STRONG double sided tape.. Do you have an example of this or a part #?

3M Scotch Exterior Foam Mounting Tape... it's gray with a red backing - don't get their other mounting tapes. This stuff is amazing; the sides will stick to the table while its still on the roll.

I'm in favor of using the clips though, use the tape as a last resort - if it does come to it though, rest assured, it won't fail.

At least with the tape reverting to stock down the line is always an option. Welding holes and repainting is a lot more time consuming and expensive.

yeah,I'm with scrymerr.I had the same problem and ended up paying more trying to do it cheap ass and still ended up at the dealer to the clips.

You gotta keep in mind some DSMs didn't come stock with sideskirts. so I had to measure and drill to insert the clips. some clips broke, some clips were too small for the holes I drilled. so I really didn't have any choice but to use 2-3 self tapping screws per sideskirt

the person that i bought my car from had my side skirts held on by 3m double sided tape. It works pretty well but if i were you i would drill a whole to keep it mounted better.

the problem I have with mounting my sideskirts is they dont wrap around the wheel wells at all, I have no secure place to mount them unless I tap screws into the front of them and bondo / repaint the sideskirts. So I'm almost forced to use tape.
