Hi, I was going to install a personal computer (PC) in my car. I know it sounds crazy, but I know it can be done (i work at a computer shop). The PC will sit in the trunk, and the S-Video wires will be ran to the screen through the interior. I will have a wireless keyboard with a laptop-like touch-mouse pad (the ones where you control the mouse with your finger). The screen will either be under the sun visor under the roof, or in the middle of the back seat under the roof. I will also be hooking my sound system (the sound system will be hot pluggable so I can remove while racing) up to the computer so I can store alot of music/videos on it. However that is all besides the point.

What I really wanted to know was what software, computer, or piggyback chip I will need to tune my car. I will be tuning the car with the on-board PC. It would be nice to even have two driving 'modes'... street mode, and racing mode, where different level's of boost are applied. (tell me if this is possible but i am thinking it is probably not...)

Anyways i was wondering what do I need to accomplish this... a piggyback chip, or a complete new Computer System?

If the cost is alot I will just wait longer to buy it... The ultimate goal is to have complete control of my car, and be able to tune it for the racing conditions... but I dont want to buy a component I don't need.

Thanks, when I do this I will put a tutorial up so anyone can do it.

He's N/T, unless he's talking about a different car than in his profile. DSMLink is not an option.

ryd0rz,

super awesome, ive done this as well. im a software developer and have ambitions on top of the pc in the car such as writing an app to control other areas of the car using aftermarket electronics. it would be nice if DSM link had some open source stuff that people can modify..

basically i have a system planned, that in short, i can send commands to my car via SMS messaging.. like starting..etc.. you would just need a sateltite internet account and a few other things... the software is open source too

IM me on aim and lets talk, i have a special box made and everything for my trunk pc.. we can also research all possibilities and come up with the best solution

edit i think dsmlink is open source. sorry
