Hey, I've got some shocks and springs on the way and I've not got cash left over for a camber kit.
I've purchased 8 bolts with an allen socket ( its all i could infd that was metric AND hardened) with a hardness of 12.9
I also picked up about 50 large fender washers. I chose them cause they were cheap and had a large surface area.

My questions are, will those washers be ok? or should I pick up some hardened ones? Also if you know of a place I can find hardened washers with a surface area as large as the fender washers please post a link!

Secondly is since I'll be messing around with the stuff that keeps my car on its wheels, I figured I should pick up a torque wrench. Does anyone have any experience with which kind if better for what?
I have this link that looks ok, but should I be getting the needle kind?

What exactly are you planning to do with these washers and bolts? Are you talking about the rear DIY camber kit?

I dont know if your going to beable to get those alan bolts secure enough....I used home depot 8.8 bolts 14mm head and 8.8 3/8 washers and my cars been fine for months.

I also work t napa, I know they ave really nice 8.8 washers.

yeah, DIY rear camber kit. Sorry if I wasn't clear :thumb:

Also I tired homedepot but metric AND hardened was just asking too much.

I figure with the right attachment to that torque wrench I'll probably pick up (since Rabbi has it and has had no grief!) I'll be able to torque those allen bolts no problem. The hardness is far superior to anything else I can get my hands on too.

As far as the washers, I'll have to check at napa, the problem with finding washers with a huge surface area is teh hardness, all i could find were these flimsy fender washers.
I was told they'd probably hold up, they're only spacers, but I'd prefer something more beefy!

The washers don't need to be hardened. You might want to try someplace like McMaster-Carr next time instead of driving all over. I usually get stuff the next day.

Thats a great site! Thanks for the tip!
I'll settle for the parts I already have, but I'll use that next time for sure.

That torque wrench doesn't look too bad, the only problem is that it may be somewhat limiting in the future since it only goes to 80 ft./lbs. I might try to get one that goes to at least 100 ft./lbs.
