So i made my own boost controller today and its an exact replica of the ebay nsx boost controller which i read on here isnt a bad controller. It all seems to be working fine im on stock everything running 14 psi no spiking and its holding the boost steady, but my one friend keeps giving me hell that i made a mistake and its going to fail and im going to blow my engine.. but i honestly dont see what is going to fail on it? Im just looking for some imput to see if i should buy another one or if the one i made is just fine..

EDIT: it wont let me turn up the boost past 14 tho its like the knob doesnt want to turn to allow it to tighten anymore, but other than that works great
 
im with you bro, i think theres a bit of paying for the "name" when buying mbc's. some of them run 80 bucks or more LOL. could such an incredibly simple thing be that expensive? well im sure if the housing is really nice that costs extra but if your like most, form follows function. who cares what it looks like as long as its working for you. youll know if its good when you go to higher boost levels. see how it goes. i bought one from MAP that was like 40 bucks but thats ### i was too lazy to build one tbh. cant remember the name brand. its a straight through design, not a "T" type. lil different, havent even used it yet.

yea everything is hooked up right and its fully customizable from stock boost to 14 psi, but after that it just doesnt want to turn anymore im just thinking that the spring is fully compressed or something like that? it works perfect at 14 psi but if i go to turn it up more its really hard to turn and it went back to 10 psi which i thought was weird? but when i put it back to 14 it worked great again, but my question really is that is making one yourself ok to use? I dont see how something can go wrong

Actually there was nothing to it haha it took me longer to drive 10 min to the hardware stock to buy the stuff than to hook it up LOL its like the easiest thing you can do thats why i dont see how something can go wrong its so simple
 
btw, i have a prosport inline. theyre like 30 plus shipping and ive heard good things. that is, if you end up buying one.
 
I just watched that video. If I can find a T where I don't have to drill I'm gonna do that and build my own. That's so awesome.
 
sometimes compressing the spring makes the spring sit cocked in the housing. And then this makes a point where can just move the ball bearing out of the way easier. If the spring stays straight then it will be harder to compress. Keeping your boost at what ever it is set at. Try a harder spring, just not turned in as much.

you can get everything you need at a hardware store you dont have to drill anything at all just get a threaded T and put the nipples in it, and the rest of it and your good to go it literally took me 3 min to put it together and hook it up

FYI most guides will require you drill a small vent to bleed off the trapped air between MBC and WG. If you have any problems with it just read this link to see what I'm talking about. (Step 7 explains it)

That mod is pretty well circulated on the web, lots of guides on it. I'd do it but my car already came with a snazzy "80" dollar one ;)
 
What about the spring not being stiff enough. One difference I noticed between the Vid controller, and the Turbobricks Controller, is the later changes the adjustment screw so that you are not trying to "force" the bolt down through the NPT threads. It could be a possibility the bolt you're using isn't compressing the spring and ball enough.

The bleeder hole is pretty important or else the wastegate will be held open by not being able to bleed the pressure back out.
 
You don't want to turn it up past 14psi on stock everything anyways. Basically you made an idiot proof MBC. Good work.

Yes i do know that the only reason i was wondering is because i have almost everything i need to turn up the boost i got a afc neo, 550 injectors all i need now is the pump and afpr and im buying my friends 20g setup when i get my taxes back so ill forsure need to crank the boost up haha if worst comes to worst ill just buy a halman or something of that sort :D

The bleeder hole is pretty important or else the wastegate will be held open by not being able to bleed the pressure back out.

can i modify my current setup to have the bleeder hole? or is there another piece i have to buy

You can drill it in your existing controler. Post a pic of it and i will show you where to drill the hole.

I copied ebay haha but that is a good idea to sell them to the kids around here that have them! make them for 11 sell for 20 isnt bad ill tell the kids that dont know anything about there rs's that if you cut into the vac lines itll work for them too ROFL
