Hi, I'm posting here as im a newbie with not much DSM related material to add, but want to get straight to my question as users of this forum have without any doubts the most knowledge on Holset turbos. Perhaps a mod can move the thread to the tech section later if deemed worthy.

There has been some mention around the world of a new "Holset race series" turbo. There are a few outlets around Europe or Scandenavia selling them.

Here is a link to the info http://www.proturbo.fi/holset.jpg

I'm trying to find out more about them, but they appear to be some kind of private assembly of Holset and maybe non-Holset parts. Certainly Holset as a manufacturer doesnt have any info on a 'race series' turbo.

Do holset produce a water cooled core? - I cant find any info on this
Do Holset make a 54/77mm compressor? - I cant find any info on that either.

The HX35 turbine wheel appears genuine and maybe Holset compressor and turbine housings. Other than that, I dont know whether these turbos are a slap together job or careful selection of oem and other components to make a great turbo. Would be interested to hear others opinions.

I had a nice post typed up but decided against it. Maybe someone should at least post a link to the thread and hour 9+ threads of holset information. Not sure if it would do any good or not.

Steve,

I'm a Holset fan, when I see something in my backyard claiming to be a Holset Race series turbo, naturally I'm intrigued and want to find out more. Asking questions is perfectly legitimate.

Posting this kind of misguided shit clawing for personal details for god knows what kind of vendetta on Facebook is utterly unacceptable.

My suggestion is to direct your energy toward addressing everyone's concerns. NZers read this forum too, you know.

Still amazes me that he has no problem posting on his own facebook feed yet cannot come back on the forum and give us details about "race series" holsets. Sorry but there are only so many parts you can mix and match, billet center housings to make, porting, etc. I would like to hear some specifics.

Thanks for the hookup jus. Good link to have, I'm gonna run the shit out of it before i take it off because the smoke isnt really there anymore LOL. Maybe i lucked out, now i wanna kick this turbos ass, just cause i can..

Btw i known exactally how to destroy those HRC "holsets" that he claims are so durable.

5 minute antilag 0% enrichment and -5* timing LOL

Here's my version of a "race series" Holset.....good for 9.20 and somewhere around 700whp. I call it the War Pig because it's been through hell and refuses to give up.

A little bit late on this thread but I can vouch 100% for Steve Murch and Motorsport Engineering. He is an older (and sometimes blunt) kinda guy with little tolerance for stuff he reads on forums (especially criticism based on zero research) so don't take it personally when he doesn't join the war of words party with you directly. I have seen him turn his back on a few forums now including NZMMC which he was a major contributor and turbo tech guru for.

Although he can seem like a grump at times, Steve's the kind of guy you can call up and he'll gladly spend 30mins of his time talking to you over the phone offering his advise and expertise free of charge, just for the love of it. He was a legend when I first got into Mitsi's in the late 90's, and he's still a legend now. Don't forget that New Zealand has produced some serious imports over the years and holds/has held some impressive world records for such a small country. You simply can not survive in the game as long as MSE has, if he was selling "crap products" and was misleading his customers.
