Hole in the back of my apexi muffler! Wtf!

My N1 catback blew out on the welds too. I sold the exhaust system and bought a Thermal.

The reason it is hard to find fwd exhaust in 3" is because it loops up over the rear sub frame when the awd hangs below.

I don't know why they just cant make it run below .

Same thing happen to me. I had to buy a used One. I am going to have it coated to see if that helps. The next exhaust I buy will be stainless steel.

Wait isn't the Apexi N1 stainless steel???? or at least mine looks like it is .

Mine is about 8 years old and is still in great shape

the piping is not stainless, its like a mat finish. Im not sure what its called.
I was looking into thermal, but dont like the look of it, hks doesnt make a 3" now im looking at ebay...../ making my own.

the piping on the Apex'i N1 is aluminized steel.

Mine has held up well for over five years now. I don't drive my car in the winter though.

Every Apex exhaust I've seen here in Jersey, where we have all sorts of different weather, has rusted and rotted to hell.

Mine has been on the car for well over 4 years and still looks perfect. I drive it all year round.

ebay exhaust is better, then the 3x more apexi.

seen em in person too, 2 different owners, from same area, got the exhausts around same time. the ebay still looks good after almost a year, apexi one already showing rust.

2geezy, believe it, do a search on ebay and you will see the many great things coming from there which hav been proven on cars making more hp then you and i put together

and yes the apexi has NEVER been full stainless steel

anyone know how easily a ebay muffler could be welded on to where the one is now? Im asking cause im thinking bout hacking off the n1 muffler now, getting an ebay one for 50-75 dollars, and then having it welded on. would that be dumb or is that a pretty decent idea? Is it easy to weld the mounting brackets onto the new muffler? I want a no rattle exhaust.

what if we get something like that, cut off the existing n1 crap, and weld that on, how tough will it be to get the hangers to match up?

i bought a 40 dollar muffler because i didnt know when i was getting a new exhaust, welded it on, sounded really good. all dsms sound good pretty much with any exhaust. Only thing is the muffler looked really dumb, a lot smalled than the apexi which i didnt like. but i had that on for a day then i bought a new exhaust

alright so i just ordered an ebay n1 style muffler. It said it was 3 inch inlet but go figure the company ####ed up and its a 2.5 inch inlet. Now the company said i can return it when i get it and get a refund. What i want to know is how much quieter a 2.5 inlet muffler would be and what kind of performance loss i would see from a full 3 inch exhaust mating down to a 2.5 inch inlet muffler? Is it minimal or should i send it back and get the 3 inch muffler?

With the Jersey weather my Apexi was toast after only a few years. I was changing over to my winter wheels when I saw what I thought was a small hole, tried to touch it with my hand and realized the back of the muffler was gone when my hand whent inside the muffler. I replaced it with an ebay catback that I got used for 50 bucks. I couldn't justify spending a bunch of money on a new exhaust if its joing to just rust out.

Every Apex exhaust I've seen here in Jersey, where we have all sorts of different weather, has rusted and rotted to hell.

I live in NY and this is why I changed my mind with the Apexi N1 and I am going with the Thermal instead.

In my eyes the Apexi N1 isn't worth it at all being that you have to remove the resonator for it to be a true 3" and that it rusts after a couple winters. Just my opinion.
