I know this has happend before to some people, but i did not expect this from apexi. Behind the muffler there is a quater sized hole, and the rest of the backing is coming off.

should i just buy a new muffler?

expect it to only get worse from now on. Mine started the size of a dime and now is almost the size of a clenched fist. Does anyone know if the megan muffler or hks muffler will bolt to the first part of the n1 catback. Because i am thinking about getting the second part of the piping which inlcudes the muffler and would like to keep the 1sr pipe if i can

Crap I didn't know about this problem. Maybe buying a $600 apexi n1 wasn't such a great idea.

My Greddy EVO 2 was like blown out from the inside. ALl the cotton baffle was shooting out when gas is applied

Same thing happen to me. I had to buy a used One. I am going to have it coated to see if that helps. The next exhaust I buy will be stainless steel.

I bought a Apexi N1 knock off from ebay over a year ago and its still going fine. It bolts up perfectly too... I wish I remembered the company.

well it got worse already, its so loud like something is rattling im going to unbolt the axle back part for now. Untill i finish fabbing up my exhaust. this is ridiculous. Im so pissed

okay so i put some pics up, first 2 is of the muffler and the 3rd one is a 3inch pipe i just clamped down for a few days until my muffler gets here. then the new custom exhaust is going on.

man this thing is louddd. you can head the downspool in the car when letting off the gas or slowing down.

btw, this hole happend in 1 day it just gave out.

My buddys apexi n1 did this on his gst also. I think it was only a few years old. He ended up cutting it off and getting the black can they sold to match the black paint. It looks sick, but im waiting to see how long this one last. I think i may end up getting an hks exhaust for my car haha. Id like the high power but it comes in only 2.5" which sucks :(

Hoping this doesn't happen to mine. After spending that much on an exhaust, I would be mad.

Why don't you get Thermal R&D? I have had one for a few years, all you have to watch on them is the flanges aren't stainless which is chintzy. I just got SS VBand clamps and Flanges and tig welded them on.

I love the fitment to, It comes out nice and straight not all catywhompus like the JDM specials LOL. Plus you get the sexy 5" Tip :)

Muffler quality has improved tenfold in the past decade.

Back around 2002 or 2003 a local DSMer had to replace the $600 Greddy SP1 system on his 99 GST because the piping and muffler had completely rotted away after two years. He had no choice but to buy another system- there was not nearly the amount of price competition by brands that you see today. Even the $150 eBay systems available today are lasting longer than two years!
