Hmmmm, this could be bad

I am in the midst of purchasing a 97 tsi. It's clean car except for the fact I'm not getting any juice from the forced induction until 3500 RPM. I've never dealt with, driven, or wrenched on a 4g63 before so i don't' know if this is a sign of a problem. I just figured that a little t25 would be putting out at a lower RPM.

You are correct, The t25 should spool almost instally. It should reach full boost well before 3500 rpm. I say it should start spooling around the 1800rpm mark and reach full boost shortly after May want to check for loose intercooler pipes and such.

Boost Leak, or Exhaust leak pre-turbo, or the turbo could be going out, take off the Intake and wiggle the compressor wheel and see if it move's around alot.

My gst has the stock t25 and I feel the boost at about 2500RPM. The t25 is definitely not the best turbo (its alright for stock), but it has decent low-end power. If your blower is only STARTING to spool at 3500RPM, then there is something wrong. Check all the intercooler plumbing; you may have a boost leak. If the car has high miles, the turbo might be worn out. Also if the previous owner ran a higher boost level than stock (11psi), there is an even a greater chance the turbo is worn out.

Well I'm wrenching retarded soooooo, it looks like i'll just have to take the car to the mitsu dealership and pay the price of ignorance. Thx for the help
