Hmm think found out why my 14b would only boost 10psi!!

I thought my 14b was healthy and though had some big boost leaks or something.

today I took off intake tube and gave the old 14b the spin test.Its hitting big time on the walls in there.so it appears to be major screwed.
also I have a lot of oil thru my intercooler hoses and think some in the intake tube as well.So again that points to blown turbo.
what fooled me is it would hit 10psi or so.I also think heard a pretty horrible noise happening when holding it in boost .
So guess time to find a good used 14b or cheap evo or something
This is in my 91 fwd turbo of course.

Why does every post have to be a question.
This thing has been wierding me out as tried buddies boost controller and still didn't go past 10 psi full open.Even unhooked the gate to try that today and still nothing past 10psi.

I think its a useful post about how a bad turbo can still boost apparently.

when i had my T25 it still made boost but it made a horrible noise at part throttle. that noise definetly told me it was time for a new turbo.

yep good thing you found out before the blades metal pieces started chipping or something like that. Mine is on it's way out too. (T-25) Thank goodness for that income tax money i'm getting back.
