Hey, im really not sure what to do. I just installed my hks ssqv bov and it holds boost great and everything but i can not get the correct sound? Even at 14 psi i get the studder sound. I guess the large valve is not opening and i dont understand. I had the screw in back in the middle and then all the way out practically. ( i didnt try all the way in) All i get at 14 psi is a louder studder with a littttle slight woosh.

Can anyone help me fast????!!!!???

its not about the annoying ass noise, thats all mine did at 18 psi, got a type s, that was even more annoying, get a 1st gen stocker, and be done with it,

:dsm: What exactly do you mean by the "studder sound". I also have the HKS SQV and I like to compare the sound to a cracking of a whip. You definately know when the large secondary valve will open. I never had to adjust my BOV, it came perfect from the factory. Make sure that the vacuum line is correctly attached to the back of the BOV. Also, don't screw the rear bolt in all the way. That will increase the spring tension inside the BOV and will make the valve harder to "respond" try taking the screw out counter-clockwise to decrease the internal spring stiffness. Also, keep the BOV. it's bada$$ and scares people!! :thumb:

It's a hit or miss if your car recirculates well or doesnt at all.

back the screw on the hks all teh way until its just a few threads from being popped out... make sure you have no vaccum leaks and make sure the vaccum is connected to the bov.

Well heres the deal, I am venting with my set up (blow thru), -17 on my vacuum, and i bought this bov used. It was on a wrx and he sold it to my buddy with a honda. He said it didnt work on his honda and that i could try it and hell give me the money back. The thing is busted, what i have gathered is that it holds boost great but the small valve is the only valve opening. (hence only getting the small valve flutter even at high boost) I definitly think i would notice the difference in sound if the large valve was opening and it shifts a lot harder at high boost because all the pressure is going through the small valve. + on top of all that my buddy with the honda told me he bought another ssqv and it works fine

right now i am flanged for a greddy type s bov but ive heard the ssqv at high boost compared to the laser sounding type s and the ssqv just sounds sick + i was afraid i wouldnt like the fluttering sound, but now i think its kinda cool. So i think what im going to do is order me a ssqv off ebay and give it one more chance.

thanks for all your responses! :thumb:

My hks only flutters at real low boost and usually then its more of a long woosh due to the way I drive the car.

I read that over time the valve gets stuck and you have to re-grease it. The best way is to take some valvoline synthetic grease from the local parts store and smear it all over the purple shaft that attaches to the diaphram.
