Please read this before you start another thread.

To answer your question though, no it will not run right unless you add some other items. You will need either a used HKS VPC, maft with gm 3" maf in blow through, or a full stand alone ems.

That's not correct. You can buy a recirculation kit and it will work fine.

Ypu are correct. I just assumed this was another one of those I want a loud BOV threads and reacted accordingly. To the original poster I apologize for not trying to help you out as much as I could.

If you want to vent to atmosphere you will need those items that I mentioned, if you do not want to vent to atmosphere you can recirc back into the intake. Recirculating will cause you not to have as much sound but you still end up with a good looking BOV. IMHO though you would be better served to save the money for the BOV and get other performance mods. Follow the steps in that link that I gave you because a BOV should be one of the last mods you make seeing as you have a 1g.

EDIT: After reviewing your mods I would definately recommend that you hold off on the BOV. You need to get other more vital things done before you worry about the BOV. You do not show any fuel mods listed which means you need to only run stock boost levels, at stock boost levels it does not matter how loud the BOV can be it will not be that loud.

You'll learn very soon that VTA is not the most effective "First Mod" Choice.

Even though it may sound "cool". Stick to plumb-back/Recirculaton.

Or atleast checkout a Dual-port

I'm not sure I would just go ahead and buy an HKS even if you are recirc'ing. I did a lot of reading before I invested in my FMIC kit and found from asking a lot of people that the HKS fluttered a lot on their setups with the stock or small turbos. Don't ask me why, as it makes no sense to me, but that's what they said.

IMHO, as long as your stocker (Or 1g if you have a 2g) isn't leaking, stick with it.

I used to run the ssqv and it caused me idling problems. Not the best choice for a BOV in my opinion. But like the other guys said, you might want to look into other upgrades before you do that. Besides, your stock BOV should be fine for right now.

^^ duel port? explain please

A Dual-port BOV is a bolt-on product that vents from one side to atmosphere(with a trumpet) and other end back into intake(with a plum-back hose), While keeping your ECU Happy :) . So in a nutshell, you get the best of both worlds at the same time.

Although, with the Turbosmart, its a 3 in 1 Combo. You can vent, Plum-back or Both & The same time. Im pretty sure this is because of the Universal Blanking flange, allowing to switch to Plum-back OR Dump Only

It should be mentioned that a dual port BOV doesn't really solve the problem. Sure most of the air will be recirculated, but even so, some metered air gets vented to the atmosphere, which is the problem. A dual port just makes the problem not as bad, it doesn't really solve it.

I have a knock of HKS SSQV and it works fine for me. No leaks, blows off when it is intended. Completely satified, I upgraded because my 1g was leaking after being modded, and then crushed. As opposed to getting another 1g, I gave the $60 HKS SSQV- knock off a shot

I agree i love my HKS SSQV. How ever i did run my blowing off to the atmosphere for 8 months with out a gm mas or blow threw and i only had problems with it stalling or anything just a few times basically only if i unhooked the battery for a while. then after driving for about 25 min it cleaned up and wouldn't stall. This is not recommended to do because it may seem like it is running just fine but however it is still going rich you just may not know it if you don't have a logger and in turn is hard on the car. I would recommend like these guys say either recirc it or get a blow threw set up or something. Good luck.

I had to run mine vented for a while because I didn't have a hose that would work with the recirc fitting that I got. Funny thing is, it sounds the same recirced as it did vented.... hardly any difference in noise. Of course, I'm only running 15psi on a small 16g

Oh, and I actually lost 2-3mpg when I had it venting..... Other then that, I didn't notice any ill effects. Being auto though, my bov hardly ever has to release pressure anyway (until I let of the gas anyway)

TSI, you should make a video of your car.

I'd love to hear an automatic DSM with a catback and SSQV
