just purchased a 97 gst and looking for a exhaust. i want something that has a deep loud and aggresive note. i know with the apexi exhaust you can get the apexi downpipe, but what about the HKS?

I bought my Thermal R&D from Bonehead performance and it specifically says that it is a full true 3" system and will NOT bolt up to the stock cat. It goes on to say that they include an extra 3" flange to weld on to the cat. I have not received it yet to verify if this is true though.
Unless this is something new, the Thermal system will neck down to fit the stock cat as Erik mentioned above. We had to remove this from a buddy's '95 TSi AWD system, and I had to remove it from the Thermal system on my '92 TSi FWD as well.

Thermal R&D features a line of exhaust systems designed for Turbocharged vehicles. These systems are made of 3” mandrel bent stainless steel pipe and require some slight modifications to your high-flow catalytic converter. We include an extra 3” flange for an easy installation of the exhaust system. These systems are a true 3” and will not connect to a stock catalytic converter.

Here is what it says on their website. I don't know if I believe them or not though. I will post what the actual measurement is when I receive it. It would be cool if we could get a true 3" Thermal R&D system though.

For those who run the megan exhaust, how do they compare to the n1, hks, and tNr?

I had the megan on my old Ralliart. Was pretty deep.

I love how everyones exhaust is the deepest and best sounding when we got different brands in discussion! :p I love a great sound but would prefer one without a 5" tip...just seems a little large!

I like my HKS so far! Brand name LOL, quality, made to last, big tip, deep tone, not to loud on streets, freeway get's irritating around 65mph but 70 is okay, good slant angle, looks great, EXPENSIVE, makes me feel rich, feel stupid for buying it, brings FEAR to others!
