My 1996 420a talon has very rough suspension and I hit a bump and it killed my car and when I try to turn it back to the ON position I do not here the fuel pump engaging and my car wont fire up. It was a stock fuel pump and I have it taken out to put a new Walbro 255 in with a rewire with 10 ga. off the battery and relay set up thinking that would fix it but the fuel pump still does not engage when put to the ON position. I thought that would have fixed it but is there anything else that could have happend??

If your battery isn't tied down, it could've hit your hood. Check your main engine fuse (and all the others while you're in there.) Sounds like somethin blew.

I totally agree, I've been lazy about making one or finding one so mine has hit the hood once.

does hitting the hood ground out the power terminal to the hood and blows the fuse??

should I get a battery tie die down, right above the battery is a strut bar so I do not think that my battery could have bounced up to blow the fuse

on 420a's the egr pipe runs right over a very important wire loom and tends to melt. Nice engineering there i know LOL. Exact same problem happened to me several times blowing the ign fuse. Not saying im sure thats your problem but i would inspect the wiring near the egr tube. They are notorious for cooking wires and shorting to ground.

similar thing happened to me when I locked up my breaks real hard. battery slid forward just enough for the positive terminal to arc to my strut tower bar. melted my negative connector in half....of course checking your fuses is good, look over the battery/cables and make sure there is no damage. the fuse box under the hood is a good place to checking fuses, and the relays for the fuel pump on the 4g63 are just under the dash on the drivers side, near the foot rest, right next to the other fuse box. im guessing the locations are the same on the 420a cars.

Which fuses should I check, the battery is good and the egr pipe is deleted so the wires are fine, the motor turns over but does not fire

Well it seems all the wires are good and in tact but my fuel pump does not put out any fuel or make the hmm. noise when turned to the ACC positon key all it does is click, any ideas on what causes the fuel pump to not pump?

pump relay. Or bad fuel pump. Ive also had to change a fuel pump in my old rs i had. Trace down the wires or even pull the access hatch for the pump, pop the connector and manually apply 12vdc with some alligator clips and see if it pumps. On 420a's the pump turns on as soon as you turn keyswitch to "on" position. Its very different than a gst or gsx which requires a cps pulse to activate the pump. Run the wires down and find the fuse or relay for the pump.

I also have no tie down so I wrapped my strut bar in a shitload of electrical tape by the positive side and added a rubber cover :thumb:

Another thing to mention is that many batteries can die from the impacts alone. I forgot to put the tie- down bar on mine once and hit a bump and everything died. I disconnected the battery, checked all fuses, which none were blown in my case, and everything worked properly when I reconnected the battery. The battery quit taking a charge a few days later and I had to get a new one. If you cant find anything obviously wrong with your fuses etc, try getting your battery checked out...

Wow i dont have to read all the threads to realize your car is held together with duck tape. I would try taking off the duck tape and fixing all those parts correctly. Then your car might make it to the gas station and back. Not trying to be mean but a nig*** rig is only going to make your car unreliable.
