high temp sealant curing time.

I'm using permatex high temp thread sealant on some fittings for a new oil drain set up and oil pressure sensors and such. The direction on the cover say that it takes 4 hours to settle and 24 hours to fully cure. Well, my problem is that its been a week since I applied some of this sealant and well, the sealant hasn't dried yet. Its still gooey/sticky/fresh. Not as creamy texured as when it comes out of the tube but still fresh enough that I can get it on my finger when I go and touch it to test if it has cured. This is the only thing holding me back from taking the talon off the jacks and testing it. So, what's your experience and such with the permatex high temp sealant when it comes to the curing/drying process and how much time do you actuallu wait.

why did you post this same question twice?

my question would be... what does the package say for temperatures? usually it'll say "set in 4 hours and is fully cured in 24 hours (at such and such degrees) " in which case it will take longer if it's not warm enough (usually) for it to set or whatever. and did you clean everything properly? i've never had any issues with sealants and things not setting in the amount of time the package dictates.

Chances are, whatever your using it on dosen't really require it since its probably a pipe thread. Most oil drains are a flanged type, or use a AN style flare and seal on the flare.

However, I use the same sealant on anything pipe. Its good stuff, but I didn't even read the directions. I apply, and by the time everything is together and full of oil its good enough.

Do you think auto shops can wait 24hours after they apply sealant before filling with oil? The sealant your using never dries up completely anyways, it always stays wet/gooey etc.

As you can see, I posted my reason as to why I double posted in the other threat. It was an accidental double post.

Have you used the permatex high temp thread sealant? There is no temperature at which it should be applied. According to the package instructions. Yes, the area was properly cleaned as I always do for other sealants and such where I have also never had problems with the curing time. This is why I'm asking if anybody has had any curing time problems with this particular sealant.

I have use this sealant before and it has dried cmpletely but I wasn't using it on the car and I didn't check the piece that I assembled till like a month later. No, I'm not using a flange nor an fittings. Its a custom oil drain for a holset turbo.

True about the shops not waitting 24 hours before it settpes completely. That's why I rather do most if not all the work on my car. Jiffy lube, midas, grease monkey!!!???? Yeah right. Lol.
In a serious note, I'm sure I'll be ok by now but I want to do things right the first time. I went through hell with this set up and honestly, I don't want to do it a third time. Just playing it safe. Its a bi*** trying to fit a 16an custom hose and fittings under a holset as an oil return line.
