I have a '95 GSX and for some reason my car seems to rev really high while I'm driving. I shift 1st thru 4th at around 3500 and to 5th at around 3200. But for some reason, I'll be going 20mph in 2nd revving at 3000, 30mph in 3rd revving at 3000, 40mph in 4th revving at 3000, and 50mph in 5th revving at 3000. And when I'm going around 70mph on the highway revving at almost 5000, I'll let my foot off the gas and the car seems to jerk forward. Is this normal? Anything that I can check or change?

Thats not normal at all... But I have no idea what it would be.

What are the rim/tire sizes?
Any wrecks?
Weird noises?
Check all the axles, and the driveshaft for play and damage.

Thats all I can think of.

Seems that maybe your clutch is slipping, seeing that when you let off the throttle you lurch as the clutch is able to hold firm. How many mile do you have on the clutch? 60MPH should be at 3000rpm. At 70, you should be below 3500 (I have a 92 TSi, I do not believe the gearing has changed that much).

Do you have a hot/burning smell after driving on the highway? What happens when you "get-on it"? Does it rip down the road, or does it seem slower than it should be?

right now I have 17" rims with 225/45R17 tires. It's a clean title and everything. When I get on it to get on the freeway or something it accelerates just fine, just every time I shift, it seems like the RPMs are really high. Anything else that I could for problems?
