High Pitched Sound Emitted From Wheel

As the title states, there is a really high-pitched sound coming from either the passenger or driver side wheel, it starts when I hit the 20mile per hour mark and it makes my steering wheel very loose.
I don't know where I should start looking and what it could cost me to repair, mind you I will be taking it to a mechanic later today but I'm afraid that a cop might think that I'm drag racing.

It'd be great if I could get some help concerning this issue, thanks.

Wheel bearing if it sounds like an airplane engine. Jack the front up and grab the tire/wheel at 12 oclock and 6 oclock. Give it some muscle and see how much it wiggles.

Also to add, if its diagnosed as the wheel bearing, do both sides. You'll wear through the other side like butter if you only replace one wheel bearing.

Yeah, it sounds like that exactly.
Is it safe to drive the car to the Mechanic?
Is there any danger to the other cars next to me or myself and if so, would I get pulled over for the sound/ speed I will be traveling in?

Well you have been driving on it this whole time like that, just take it easy.

A wheel bearing won't put you in immediate danger. There's always the risk it could have a catastrophic failure, but 99% of the time they wear down gradually, going from normal wear to making a whining sound, to clunky and then to failure. Lots of people drive a lot on bad bearings. Not that its ok to, but you have time to save up to fix the issue.

Honestly, since I found out about the problem, I haven't been driving it.
I have just left it there, I just don't know if it will make it all the way to the mechanic which is about a 20 min drive.

Apparently, it wasn't the wheel bearing, it was just the front right lower control arm, the pothole was either too deep or they went over it too fast because it permanently damaged the control arm.
200$ for the part and labor together.
