high idle, and running lean

so i just got my 96 eclipse gsx STOCK motor put back in and i have a high idle (1500-1600rpm) and my a/f (not a wideband) is stuck all the way on lean.when i accelerate it is slugish until i hitboost then it does fine other then staying lean... the cars emission system is eliminated. it has a walbro 255. manual boost controler. and a type s bov. those are the only non stock things on it.

no i do not have a tuning device. and the af gauge shows a lean mixture. sorry. total newbie to turbo dsm's. i also forgot to add the large fuel consumption

You run a 255pump.. AFPR would help.

that narrow band aint going to do much for you other than take a Good guess

..with that said, it may be something else like your ISC/TPS.

what do you mean by the bov recirculating. when my car idles it makes a whistling sound. like high pitch whistling sound. it would make a dogs ears stand up.

i know what the TPS is. but what is an ISC?

yes it does it more when im driving and then when i go to stop at a red light or a stop sign or something. but then steadies off. thats the only time. it would also do the same thing if i were to rev it..

but as far as it surging while staying idle no it doesnt. it will be at 1500. then it will go to 1600. then a minute or two would pass then back down to 1500.

you said you put your stock motor back in so..... I would do 2 things. check your throttle positioning sensor with a multimeter, there is a ton of articles on how to do this. Also try and clean your iac. Iac is a idle air control: An electrically-operated valve which allows air to bypass the throttle plate in a fuel injected engine to regulate engine idle speed. Sometimes they can get carbon build up on them. clean with brake cleaner or carb cleaner.

One more thing check to see if your throttle cable is really tight. You might have adjusted to tight.

ok i will check that too. but im sure that wouldnt make my running lean problem.. or is that af gauge pretty much usless?

, ive done that! ...checking over everything wondering why my throttle is high... then i played with the cable.. hours of work ... all b/c of the cable..who woudlve thunk it?!.. WTF

i just bought all new vacuum hose to replace all the old stuff. so im going to do that. clean the iac, check the TPS and check the throttle cable. should have all this done by the end of tomorrow. ill let you guys know how it goes.

ok. so i just put all my new vacuum lines on and my idle went down. but the rpms still bounce if i rev it up. almost as if its about to stall. umm..checked the throttle cable. it was acctually a little loose. so i tightened that up a bit ( did it with the car running so i didnt over tighten the cable. either later today or tomorrow ill be doing the TPS and IAC.. thanks guys for your suggestions. one problem down.

just got done doing an ohms test on my iac. test on pins one and two came back as 31 ohms. and the rest all came back as zero...also. my high idle came back.
