So i just swapped back a 14b, SMIC, Stock Boost Solenoid onto my 1g from a 16g w/ FMIC. And what seems to be happening is 80% of the time the car will idle around 3-3.5k, when i'm driving it's down to a semi-normal level but it spikes right back up as soon as i clutch in. However the other 20% of the time it will idle around 1k where it's supposed to but only for a minute or two. My thoughts were to first retime the CAS (since the last owner screwed that up...) and adjust the BISS screw. What would be other reasons to this problem besides those two? I would have done those over the past few days but it's been a frozen wonderland here.

thanks as always!

Terry's Talon Troubleshooting Tips #3 - Fast Idle (aka. Idle Surge) Here i used google took 2 seconds just look for dsm idle, or similar issues to your car nothing is ever going to be spefic answers, as you will learn looking around at different places will yield you lots of answsers and ways to get started. That thread should tell you just about everything as idle is concered, its a great start.

I've already checked that, thanks though. I'm just really quite puzzled as to what it is at this point.

My car is also missing ALL of the vacuum lines coming off the throttle body, they have been capped off but would that be the issue?

mine are all sealed off at the throttle body too. I had a high idle and i did a boost leak test and found a huge leak and fixed it. I also had a bad ics and bad timing. i have it pretty close to correct right now, make sure you ground out the ecu when you mess with the biss screw and timing.(on the diagnostic port pin ten i believe, double check!!, and the one pin on the firewall by your windshirld wiper motor)

I still need to do a leak test once it warms up. And i did the BISS the way the link above said to do it without grounding, so i'll try the VFAQ way that says to do that. It could also be a bad ICS, i'll check that out too.

ya, i would definitely ground the ecu. thats how the haynes manual and DEALERSHIP manual tell you how to do it. and yes i do have both.LOL its a dsm. and a boost leak can defintly cause your problem, and it will feel like the car is bogging down on you. the ics is easy to test. ohm out the 1st and 2nd pin on the sensor side of it. it should be between 28 and 33 ohms if i remember correctly. if not, thats gonna cause your idle to screw up. o and you have to do biss screw adjustment and time your motor at operating temputure as well.
