high 15's 1/4 MILE....STOCK????

Hey, its me....the one that originally posted this thread.

I'm starting to believe my car is a factory freak, because i just recently took the VR6 again. No prob....like 2 car lengths....we raced till about half way through 4th (106mph) and it was a stand still start. And about the Mustang 5.0 hes my friend and weve raced a lot, its a 94 automatic convertible. We race on a side street, not at a stop light, one of our friends gets on and countsdown so the factor that he doesnt know were racing is eliminated. We are seriously dead even every time we race. U can even call me if u dont believe me and talk to witnesses. I raced this integra yesterday, heavy mods, it was an LS, we were dead even also. And my 15.9 1/4 was the first week i got my car, i had no clue how to shift. now im the best driver in town so im sure i can run quicker now...oh ya another car i just raced....a 2003 tiburon GT, we were even till 4th, then he pulled on me a lil....maybe a half a car length. Its kewl tho, when everyone makes fun of my car and how its a bi*** car and all this stuff, and then i just smoke them and send them home makin excuses and all. Its tyte. Oh ya....and another thing thats weird about my car.....I've gotten it to 138mph and it was still climbing...not much but it was.....whats up with that??? DSM fo' life
 
ya thats crazy my talons the exact same way. i ran a 16.5 shiftin at 5800 in first with only a cold air intake at 4400 ft above sea level. i cant wait to c what it runs now
 
oh god,now you people have gone and done it,now every NA 420a guy on the site isgoing to be runnning around saying "you don't know what you're talking about,my car is a factory freak" no offense to the 420a people,i love your motors and plan to own an RS(RS for weight purposes). you'll probably tell me i'm wrong,but i think any good running 420a in an RS can turn 15's with minor mods. just like i tell people all the time,if you're running 16.5,its not always your car,in drag racing,driver skill is a HUGE varying factor.. some people just CAN'T make good passes,to me it comes down to a science,as the clutch is half way in the tranny is out of gear and as soon as its touching the floor its in the next gear and the clutch is out before you can blink your eyes,plus you have to take into consideration all the track conditions,how you launch.. i could go on forever. practice,practice,practice.
 
well 240 compression is a bit high... 1tuffrs's compression is high and i think his is just over 225. how is it that your compression is so high? i thought for a the 420a motor the stock compression is around 200. mine is between 212 and 215.

you can plane the head down,have the block decked,run total seal rings,that'll get you up there.
 
isn't that a bit risky?... i mean our blocks really aren't all that beefy, so there really isnt much room for scraping off material. how far can you plane and deck before your run out of room or risk damaging the block? i dont want to see my rollers making there way through my valve cover.
 
i have been able to keep up with GSR's and 5.0 in my 96 Talon N/T with CAI intake, carbon fiber hood and a muffler i kill SI civic and am dead even with prelude's i live in Utah where i heard it is about .5-1 sec slower here because of the altitude but i have run a best of 16.50
 
so with a 5hp gain with a intake (and i doubt it's that much), a univresal muffler - basically little to no gain; maybe even a loss of hp, and a few pounds of weight reduction with a c.f. hood; you actually expect us to believe that with a 1/4 time of 16.5 that you can keep up with gsr's and 5.0.... sorry man i dont buy it. both of those cars stock run 1 sec or faster in the 1/4.

well, planing down the deck height will not compromise structural integrity of the block,if you go too far, you might experience some piston to valve clearance issues,but thats it.
 
I can believe what you say about beating mustangs and such. My car stock ran about a 16.3 at the track. I put a catback system(everything else stock) on and i ran a 15.8. I have done a lot more to it but haven't had a chance to get it to the track, but my friend has a 2000 mustang GT(previous Talon owner) and has driven my car and admits my car will most likely put his car to shame. I get nothing but compliments on how fast it is and what i can beat. Cant wait for the turbo.... :)
 
i thought mustang gt's ran 15.00 sec. or better in a 1/4 mile. i dont see how a car stock with over 250 + hp is going to loose to a car with just over 175 hp ( that's with more than just a few bolt on's) if your lucky, and can barely muster up a high 15 sec. to a slow 16 sec. pass and win. there must be some terrible V8 drivers where you guys are from.
