ok i recently bought HID conversion kit for the low beams in my car. there not as bright as i thought they would be and there in the stock headlight housings. are they best in them or new projecter headlights? and also i didnt buy a conversion kit for high beams and frankly i dont see any room to even mount another box so is there any way i can buy regular bulbs the same color as the hid low beams i have. im running 6000k hids.

i don't know about the stock HL but i bought the aftermaket HL with HID's and their awsome...they are 6000k's very very bright i don't even need to use my highbeams...
ohh and let them warm up abit aswell......be sure to have a good ground too!!!!

They are brighter in projectors.

Not nessarily. We have a z71 with HIDs. First we had them in projectors, and they sucked, so we sold the projectors and put them in the stock housings and they're bright as s now.

To the OP:
People on here are going to tell you that you should only run them in projectors so that you wont blind people, and this may be the case, but thats a different subject.
Your question was which one was brighter, and from my experiences, stock housings are brighter.

PLEASE get projectors, because it's actually pretty dangerous running HIDs in the stock housings that were made for Halogens. It's just like running around with HID high beams on all the time because the beam is not focused properly. And i'm tired of almost running into things after passing guys on a two lane road because i can't see once they've passed going the other way.

in that case. ill keep the stock housings haha. no just joking. they honestly dont look that brightt when im on the road. ill have to look into it. butt my other question ..any regular bulbs i could put to match the color of 6000k hids for the high beam becuase i dont feel like purchasing another kit for highbeams

not sure about other bulbs, if you were to get like the 8000k you shouldnt even need high beams anymore

i also agree not to get HIDs for the highs, it can be very dangerous for other drivers and you're lows should be bright enough without, then other reason is that you cannot "flash" HIDs like regular halogens and by putting HIDs in the highs you will no longer be able to flash them

Ya I have got a friend with the evo 9 mr and the projector hid lights on that bad boy are bright! The 9s have the toggle setting to adjust how high you want them to aim or how low to want to aim them and on the highway we get flashed all the time when the are on the second to lowest lever. So ya you can tell the projectors help alot to actually "project" the light to the ground.

You can always send the ebay sellers an inquiry. I had a set on my last talon that were "cut off" for HIDs that i got for $130. Here's a picture, and maybe you can still find them. You can tell by the hard line the light makes level with the ground when you shine them on a wall. As for your high beams, go with the Sylvania silverstars. They're probably the closest you'll get without actually getting HIDs.
