Hello all. New guy here. Just wanted to say hi, and while Im at it, get a diagnosis for a transmission issue Ive been having recently. Before you ask, yes I searched this topic already, and I found one thread about it, but no one really answered the question; and me being a n00b, I couldnt post in that thread. So, heres whats up:
I have a 1992 Eagle Talon 2.0L N/T manual, and I have been having some issues with reverse. It only works when it feels like it. Some of the time, I will go for reverse, and it just bogs down, like it wont let me shift into reverse. It feels like something is working against itself in the transmission. Other times, (usually after Ive been messing with it for a few minutes, but not always) its like reverse doesnt even exist. Ill shift right then down for reverse, and Ill move forward a little (4th gear) when I let out the clutch and apply the gas. Also worth mentioning, is when its acting up like this, Ill have the clutch in, and Ill shift into reverse, and it will stick, but the car jerks a little, like the gear is catching some even with the clutch in. And finally, on rare occasions (usually after its warmed up outside) it works like nothing is wrong. I dont have any problems with any other gears, its just reverse. I tried shifting into fifth while i was driving, and it slid in fine. So, will someone PLEASE tell me what this problem might be!
EDIT: I took it to a mechanic, and he jacked it up and said that "its something inside the transmission." However the thread I was reading earlier mentioned something about changing the fluid in the transmission, so Im still confused.
