I came across this thread in a new forum that isn't so popular. It's a write up that tells you to install your bov backwards. For what reason I dont know, but I was wondering the ill affects of this and why anyone would want to do this.

Visual proof that the installer is a certified retard, as opposed to a mental perception of such.

"The fluttering is happening because the vacuum and boost are trying to get at the right levels."

Lmao, yeah, they are negotiating. It's called compressor surge. This does work, not as well as a real BOV, but, it does. You can find it on this forum if you search hard enough. Try it, see what happens. Compressor surge doesn't kill a turbo instantly, so if you get it, flip it back and wait for a real one.

How the hell is stock boost 12-14psi if the BOV leaks at 9? Dumbasses.

i'm sorry, but god damn, how cheap can you be???? Its not that hard to get a BOV. If you don't have a job, i'm sure any McDonalds or fast food place will hire. I'm not directing this to anybody, its just general.

Yea I knew the fluttering he was talking about was compressor surge. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy and confirm people here weren't doing this. I guess that just goes to show you can't trust people on the internet.

That's why I come here when I need advice on my car :dsm:

I see the point, I dont know though. Its the same way a SSQ bov works, pull type. I dont see why it wouldnt hold boost better. But then again, my stock 2g bov didnt start to leak untill about 14 psi.

Is there anybody here that actually runs their car with the bov installed like this?

Well doesnt it suck that this has been posted and commented on here at tuners as well as people from here have done it. Read the whole thing and you will see it is said that a new one is still better, this is something for those who dont have the money for it yet. And when you read the one thread(much longer) you will see who thought of it and you will see that it has held 20lbs by doing it still needs to be put on machine and everything checked out but it does work. and here is the thread here on tuners.

Thanx 93 tsi fwd for letting everyone know that you have also done it and had success with it.

Kevin Jewer did it on his Evo a while back, I believe to hold more boost. I don't know if he ran like that as a DD, but he did so at the track and said he had decent results.

Of course it's better at the track , It does hold more boost. In fact it holds boost when it shouldn't and causes compressor surge. If you were at the track this could help you but on the street it would cause excess stress on the turbo.

Most people lower the boost when they leave the track anyway, and wouldn't benefit much from running the blow-off valve this way.

I did run the stock EVO BOV like this for the first season or so I raced it. It obviously makes a shitload of noise, and it wouldn't be a great idle to run like this all day. I eventually welded up an adapater to install my trusty Gus modded 1g BOV to save me one more hassle in the pre-post race procedures, and eventually upgraded to an SBR UICP with a 1g flange. But it held me over for a while.
