What?!! i got some 80A urethane resin per the instructions in the tech article, Easy Urethane Motormounts . . . CHEAP. Poured it in the front roll stop and driverside engine mount, waited a long 3+ days, and then took her out (today). She was tight. Her center of gravity didn't change when accelerating through the curves. She picked up in throttle response. I was thinking this is an awesome mod for $27 and change. I rolled along in 1st gear and brought the rpms up to 1500 or so then I punched it (3/4 throttle). It broke my new AA traction-rated tires a loose and continued to burn through 2nd and a little of 3rd. i released the clutch and slowed down using the brakes (i don't know why i do this. it's a habit). I had never gotten on the car like this until then because i bought it with the broken mounts. So i went on about my business. a few moments later I heard that old familiar clunking sound when shifting a bit aggressively. I pull over and pop the hood sure enough, both motor mounts are cracked pretty badly.
I'm running at 16psi sharp and i get a little rattle (yes any is bad. and i know you can get detonation and not hear it) on long pulls in 3rd when i get on it at 2700-3100 rpms (hits full boost at 2800 rpms). I have a MAF with the lower honeycomb removed (no fuel cut). I have the air can cut. I have a Small 16G with 2000 miles on it. 2.5 inch exhaust, no cat, with a fart can on the end for a muffler. EVO III exhoust manifold. K&N air filter. Everything else is stock from what i know...
Can those modded motor mounts not be enough for my horsepower and torque levels? i don't get it. Do I need the Prothane inserts or something? Are they better?
