So my buddy was driving my car to work the other day (I am in Iraq so he is taking care of it) and said at constant cruise the car misses almost like the car is turned off then turned back on. But under acceleration or boost it runs just fine. Any ideas?:banghead:

I would test the TPS with a volt meter, use the Vfaqs method. Visual Frequently Answered Questions - Home Page

TPS Adjustment

And I think your crazy to let a friend drive your car, I can only imagine the hell he is probably putting it through. I would never let someone drive my car while I was out of town.

Lol I trust him... been friends since grade school... but I got full coverage and he is included and the engine that is in there is coming out when I get home so I am not to worried if he blows it up, but He doesnt drive like a mad man... like my grandma yes... when we roll around in his svt he refuses to go fast cause he works for the sheriffs dept. and cant get tickets or he loses his job

Has he checked for boost leaks? Those can cause all kinds of weird problems.

If he's holding the pedal to the floor and the car loses complete power/it cuts out completely it's probably a TPS but it could also be fuel related, I've read a few threads where people have replaced everythings and the problem was the fuel filter which is the easyest thing on the car to replace. Is the check engine light comming on?

No check engine light, but the problem does not happen during acceleration only during cruising

Just got off the phone with my buddy and he got a new Throttle position sensor but it still didnt fix the problem. He is going to check the fuel filter later, he said the ecu board looked fine and didnt seem like capacitors were leaking, checked vacum lines, egr valve, he is going to put on msd coil and crane ignition system. Is there anyother ideas or things I should have him check? I could probably do it myself and I was home to see exactly what it is doing but still stuck in Iraq. Oh and now along with cutting out at cruising speeds it has real erratic idling, sometimes its all over, sometimes it sits at like 3K :banghead: Sorry guys

Sounds like an egr valve hanging open to me. I would pull it off and clean it, and make sure that it is working properly.

UPDATE:
So my buddy went ahead and changed the coil and put in the EGR delete kit at the same time, and as he was taking the EGR valve out found that the wiring harness was sitting on the exhaust tube and melted wires. He wrapped them up and finished putting in the kit and now it does not hesitate. I dont know if it was the EGR valve or the wires but that problem is fixed..... BUT it still idles really high. If you give it gas when it is idling the rpms will jump to 4,000 and stay there till you put it in gear and let out the clutch to bring them down then they will stay down until you give it gas again :banghead: Any thoughts? Thank you
