Alright, about two weeks ago, the motor started ticking, first thoughts were..."ah normal sound" Few days later it was getting louder.... I suspected, the begining stages of a spun rod bearing. (crank walk) Well about 4 days later I pulled into my garage and heard it louder then ever, to listen closer i revved it to 3,000 and then Clank!, Clank, CLank! I let off and the sound stoped... at idle it was very very faint. If i touch the gas agian...knock! knock! knock. No mater what RPM.

I shut her off, Iwas convinced it was a rod bearing. So next day I pulled my oil pan to find a decent amount of gold shavings....and these little "ring like pieces" which seemed way to small and odd shaped for a rod bearing.

Then I inspected the crank...(Asuming I would find a good amount of end play in the Crank shaft....( This 7 bolt has 109,000 miles...and has had a ACT2100 clutch for over 30,000 miles.) But nope. Not even 0.00000000001 of end play! The crank is as solid as new. And trust me I gave it some heafty tuggs. I have eliminated a spun bearing...and crank walk is over rated...

Later in the day I pieced the little chunks together and got this....

That is its full shape, it seems its supposed to be a "C" shape, because the ends are flat and smooth. Its about the size of a nickle.

I'm thinking it has somthing to do with the balence shafts?

So my question is........ DOES ANY ONE KNOW WTF THAT RING IS!
What it does? Where its located?

WOW! Guys thats amazing!

That is deffinatly it. I did blow a t25 a while back but it was burning coolent...never oil...Im sure. I put a 14b on 5,000 miles ago and it doesnt burn any oil, or smoke.

Maybe this is from the original t25...and that one blew and was replaced by the previous owner with another t25 that I blew the coolent seal on.

But now the problem is...WTF is making that knocking noise in my car!?

So does that mean that your turbo is spinning fine with no shaft play?

It spins fine...has no in or out play...less then a millameter of up and down play.

And the sound def wasent from the turbo...it was comming from the timming belt side of the motor..and knocked in rythm.

I think those pices have nothing to do with my cars problem... If it really is a spun bearing then the crank should def move...but it doesnt.

so the only thing i can think of is one of the balence shaft bearings is cheesed...adn the balence shaft is knocking around.
Anyone have any ideas?

I wonder if the sound even has anything to do with this past event. Part of the mystery solved but questions still remain....

i would do ### dsmkid said and try and see if there is any play when you wiggle the rod but make sure the piston your wiggleing is up at the top of its stroke. it releives all the tension on it, if none of them wiggle the i would just clean out the oil pan put new oil in and start it up and see if she still makes the noise. I am pretty new to the dsm world but thats just my 2 cents :)

another way to check the rodbearing/wristpin is take out all the plugs. the take a long screwdriver and put it in each cylinder through the plug hole, and turn the engine over by hand. wait tll the screwdriver is going down, then stop turning and push the screwdriver. any of the pistons drop, sorry, its re-build time. Either way, metal shavings of ANY kind are not good and i wouldnt drive the car. somethings bad in that engine. id re-build or replace reguardless
