Help with rust on my hatch - 98 GSX

I believe the reason for the rust in our hatches is because the water seeps through. I have a 98 GSX and there isnt a spot of rust to be found on the body, inside and out, except for the hatch.

Just yesterday I opened my hatch after a rainy day and the water just flushed down, riding the spots of the rust. Perhaps there should be a better way to keep the water out of the hatch.

yea I have a lot of rust on my shock towers.

Its not really on it but off to the side, shouldnt be to hard to weld up a metal peice in there, but I will see what a body shop says because I want to get the car painted as well, hopefully its not to expensive.

the only other rust is on the undercarriage of my car, its surface rust because its all crushed from improper jacking.

I worry about my hatch even though its a 95...if its raining and I open it theres just a lake of water on the sides (like where the washer fluid fill is) and im just waiting for something to happen.

I try and put small amounts of oil on it to keep rust out.

If you have water on the sides of your trunk, try cleaning out the drain tubes. Mine were plugged when I got the car, and just ran a pencil down it and flushed it down.

In the gutter under the edge of the hatch. Even you won't be able to miss them- just look at where the water would drain to.
