just traded for 98 Eclipse GS...140,000 miles...new rims/tires...cold air kit..muffler and front body kit...the car is really nice..having a few issues though and hope to get sum help from everyone, cause i am a newbie on these cars...BTW...traded a 90 mustang GT for this car...

my mileage sucks...picked the car up in macon, GA...drove back safely :) , got about 20MPG...about 320 miles or so, had a 1/4 tank left when i got back...the motor runs very smooth and no hesitation or skip...5-sp car...

the guy messed the aftermarket headlights up so with my brights on i see the trees, coon hunting is ### we used to call it...where is sumwhere i can buy new assemblies ?

power antenna doesnt go up or down...i hear the motor running though..

the SRS and Brake light are lit up on the dash...the emergency brake is all the way down, so maybe a sensor ? where might it be ? the SRS is the air bags rite ? how to reset to get the light off ?

i found 2 boxes under the dash...a blue one with Micro on it...i pretty sure its aftermarket alarm...no transmitter though...any ideas on help ?

and a black one that i am sure is factory unit...both are hooked up with power to them...i have the original window sticker for the car too..one of the options marked is keyless entry...i would love to get one of the units to work for me...

i hope u guys can help...thanks and looking forward to this site...

You can find new headlights on Ebay that work well. Ive had my Ebay Angel Eyes for a year and they have never had problems. they cost less than $100 too

and you might be better off just taking the antenna off.. its just a pain

The SRS light is due to a malfunction in your SRS (duh) Does your car have an aftermarket steering wheel? If you do, it'll trip the SRS light because the driver side air bag isn't connected.

The switch for the e-brake light is located under the center console. Here's a link that shows you how to remove it. How To: Remove your center console. - Team-2G Mitsubishi Forum

i have factory steering wheel..is there a way to reset this light ? i will remove the brake light sensor also...thanks

I shaved my atenna but if you REALLY want one go on ebay.same with the head lights. As for the SRS sensor go to a dealership and get it done....unless you want to go out looking for that special tool that youll probly only use once. The e-brake sensor is right underneath the cup holder/center console.

thanks fella's, much appreciate the help...

now does anyone have an idea bout the boxes under the dash ? LOL

Yea, unfortunally a trip to the dealer would be required for that SRS light. Usually it ends up being a clockspring issue.

do you have any pictures of these boxes?

Hi.

SRS or supplemental restraint system, can set a light for a lot of reasons. Like was said before the clock spring could be damaged. I've seen the sensors on the front core support be bad too. Anything that the SRS module senses as a malfunction will set it off. Do the right thing and let the pros handle it. You could accidentally set it off and ruin your dash not to mention get a story for your friends.

Mileage wise, I would fill the tank, reset the odometer and drive until it's about out of fuel. Fill it up, divide the miles by the gallons and voila you should have the correct mileage. No guessing or speculation.

30 miles per gallon is a realistic goal. Some may actually do better by a smaller margin. Once you mod it though for more power, it will go down in mpg.

Does the e brake work? It's not all that important in an automatic, but in a manual it could prevent a horror story. If you raise the handle or push the pedal in some cases and the brake light gets brighter, the e brake is not the problem. If it does not change in brightness, the e brake should be looked at a little closer.

Get a good billet antenna and install it. Mine never worked either. Or go to a salvage yard and spring for a replacement.

Be sure to find out when the timing belt was last changed. Log it and get it out of there at around 60 k after it was installed.

Good luck to you.

well the car is bone stock...so mileage shouldn't be affected all that much...i will give that a go too...though i hate taking a car down to E...suck to much crap up in the filter...i just changed it this past weekend and i think it was the first time its been done..really nasty brown fuel and lil bits of something in it...the srs lite will definitely go to the dealer..don't want any problems with that one...the E brake is all good now..the brake fluid was low is all...i plan on gettin a aftermarket antenae...

the timeing belt i have no idea...the car has just over 150k on it...i pulled the little cover so i could view the belt and it looks gr8...though i cant take into account belt stretch...

another question...when i had the car off the ground changeing the oil...when i started it i noticed the passenger wheel turning...the car was in neutral...i have to replace my master cylinder cause a leak has started...should i do my slave too ? or is there a way to adjust these cars ?

thanks brother for the help and advice...looking forward to learning all i can about these cars...i am starting to look for a GS-T car now...

all said and done i have $500 into this car...LOL i got a gr8 deal on a SUV, fixed it and traded for the Mustang GT...fixed a few minor stuff and traded for this...all for $500 and change...:)
