Calgary,
Hey guys, I have been having a wierd problem with the car, and I have no idea how to fix it. Syptoms are as follows: In the low RPM range (1000-3500) the car looses almost all power, I need to have the throttle about 3/4 of the way down, to keep accelerating, and a fully loaded semi can pass me. It reacts no differently between the throttle 3/4 of the way down and almost not down at all. If I mash it, then the car takes off like a rocket, but only if the pedal is all the way down. If I keep the rpm above 3000 off the light then I do not have a problem. This only occurs under gradual acceleration. The problem solves itself normally about 300 rpm before I get boost. It almost feels like only one cylinder is firing. The ride also vibrates a little bit. It is running slightly rich when this happens, but not overtly so. Meanwhile, my timing reads in the 30's to 50's advanced. The spark plugs all look fine, and it only occurs about twice a drive. Any suggestions?

assuming your not venting, check your maf plug. Few buddies of mine unplugged mine as a joke and never told me. I drove down the block stuttering for a few minutes and realized it pulled like crazy over like 30mph at full throttle. If the plug isnt loose, the whole unit could be bad. Also check compression, boost leaks, shaft play. They all might add to the symptoms. But yea take a look at the MAF first and let us know

Im pretty sure the MAF is good, otherwise shouldn't the O2 sensor reading be reporting a really rich environment? I do have a small boost leak in my BOV, The valve has been sticking open some times, but that only has been a problem under boost. I did a leak-down test and the engine is shot to sh*t, but I have a new block and head waiting to go in. It is gonna be two months though till I am able to get time to actually put it together and get it in. Could it be the timing, and is there any way I can fix that short of a stand alone and making my own timing map? I don't consider myself comfortable enough to tune timing yet. This has been my teach myself car, and timing is something I don't wanna screw up.
