So im going the cheap route once again, and have decided to make my on short ram intake and just buy my own filter, breather filter ect...
so my question for everyone is, what kind of piping should i use? pvc, aluminum, stainless steel? what would be my best bet, and what size should i go with?
i should have it from there once i figure the piping out...thanks alot :rocks:

while PVC does sound interesting i would more than likly go aluminum, your gonna want it to be roughly 55mm (2.5inches). i find the best route for bending to make it as far away from the engine as possible without going to low to suck up water, more than lily will be where the sock one sits. 3inches long sounds really small, especially if you have it sitting where teh stock air box is.

Personally i dont think making an SRI is that cheap, because buying a good quality filter (k&n) is roughly $50 by itself, so after your materials, couplers etc. your going to be spending close to 60-75 totaly anyways but best of luck.

By the time your done sourcing parts you could of bought one off ebay and saved money.

^ this^
But like i said, the biggest diference is the filter, and a quality filter is a goo $40-50, main reason i just went with a nice AEM one for around 120

How are the Spectre AF's? They were running a $10 off sale so the final cost would be between $10-$20. They are reusable and high flow.

Crap. I would only use one in an emergency

Edit: I figured that I would explain why.

The specter filters have endcaps that are glued on and the glue likes to come loose after a few months of engine heat. Suddenly you notice that you have no endcap on your filter and you have no idea how long it's been like that.

A good filter like the K&N or the AEM dryflow use molded on endcaps that are integral to the filter media. You'd have to rip the filter apart to get the ends to come off of the filter

cant really go wrong with the metal for $20, but once again, will be around $70's after you put on a decent filter.

Well earlier today i just bought a cheap spectre filter for $20, cant really go wrong with that for now...ill upgrade sooner or later...the rubber arms are about $5 a piece also...so im guessing in total, when (if) i buy piping itll come out to around $50-? I put the filter on the stock intake right now and its actually pretty good...nice sound, ive noticed a SLIGHT different in throttle response too..not much though.
