Without getting to far into what my reasoning behind being stuck on Turbonetics, just try to understand that "if" I decide to upgrade turbos this will more than likely be the rout I go simple do to where the money comes from and how much I can spend... So before i start I ask, PLEASES do not turn this thread into a "You should get this" or "these turbos are better because" thread, simply try to help me understand the information I ask for and that if (and I mean if in a very big way) I decide to upgrade this will more than likely be the way I go simple do to the fact that this is what is available from the distributer that I can use ATM...

O.K. I have been doing some looking at new turbos do to the fact that I think my E316G is finally starting to die and I have been looking at upgrading for a while so I may as well get the list togeather... Now I have looked at what is available from the distributer I am (ATM) limited to and the primary source for their turbos are Turbonetics but their descriptions are very vague, and provide no more info other than most of these are "Turbonetics T3/T4 Hybreads"... so using my pen, a piece of paper and the Internet I searched a few other websites and was able to come up with some information that I hope is accurate.... the problem is that if what I found is correct I am not entirely sure what i am looking at.

So.. To start with I have come up with this according to the distributors web site the PN for the turbo is 10783... Now using the other website (whom shall remain nameless) they label it as a T3-T4e_50-S3-STD0-48. I may not be a rocket scientist but from what I can gather from Turbonetics website by trying to custom build this turbo that it is a T3 series turbo using a T04E 50 trim compressor and a .48 AR turbine housing, but I have no idea what the S3 and STD0 mean. If anyone can get me pointed in the correct direction for this info I would appreciate it much..

Now my next question is regarding the GT-K series turbo... Is it safe to assume that a GT-K325 is rated up to about 325HP? Turbonetics really doesn't put any information about this turbo up on their website other than just general info... Any one with any personal experience with the GT-K series? I have read a few posts with people making comments about them not being all they are cracked up to be...

Thank you for the assistance. It will defiantly help me out in making my decision as to what I want to do, as I get some answers I am sure I will come up with more questions...

Much appreciated.
Mike

I hear ya, turbonetics has always annoyed me with some of the way they list their specs, Best thing to do is pic what compressor wheel you want and google for it's compressor map, then check it's boost range and plot your engine across it (not that easy, but not hard to get a basic idea) t-netics has done weird things over the years from adding an extra fin to a wheel and stil naming it the same thing it was named when the garrett origninal they copy the name from came out.

I've got a turbo here that i rebuilt today that was said to be a 50 or 57 trim to4e, but it's a to4b compressor housing adn the wheel specs out to be either a to4e 50 trim or a to4b super v-trim (exducer is 3" but the inducer is betweeen both other measurements and doens't match anything else in their catalogue.

learing turbos can be a bi***, learnging the differences in the "same turbo" at least by it's basic name ...example gt35 (well there's about 5 different gt35's easily) and a GT35 by turbonetics, or garrett or say precision.. it's too much that it drives me ucking-fay insane

I am not to worried about finding the compressor map for most of their standard turbos (T3, T4, T04E/B, 50/60 trim ECT) when you go to T-netics you can get that info on a few of them and plotting isn't extremely difficult. I am more worried about getting something that I wasn't wanting... I.E. some weird combination that needs a special adapter to make work or a turbine wheel/housing combination that doesn't work well with a 2L engine.

Another example is they have one that is listed as a T3-60Se_621-S5-STD0_63... which I can only guess would be this turbo with the options you see listed from T-netics website...

yea, all i was saying is that each manufacturer has as many variable numbers/letters/options and seems no two are exactly alike, todays new breed of turbos baffle me.. I thought it was simple back when we were making various combos of 50 year old wheels LOL

If you message turbonetics right off their site( they have a forum) you will be answered quickly by a turbonetics rep. I asked about my T04E 57 trim with .63ar and they answered everything within minutes, airflow, the psi sweetspot, max psi, and hp range, give it a try.
