Help with filter stuff

Trying to figure out how to change my air filters. I would like to do it on my own without having to take it in for service. Any advice?

Otherwise, there should be a how to change furnace air filter site elsewhere on the internet. Try google.

What type of filter on what type of car?
As far as I know aprilaire doesn't make any vehicle filters.
I work in HVAC supply.

It would help if you told us what car, but I'll do my best, and try to put it in simple terms.

There should be a larger black box (or some other shape) towards the front corner of your engine bay. Could be either side depending on the car. This is called your air-box. The box will have some pipes/tubes running to and from it. You will likely only see the piping running towards the top of the engine. The other piping is most likely underneath where it draws air from outside of the engine bay. The box should have some sort of easy release metal clips holding it together. You should be able to release them firmly with just your hands. Then, you should be able to separate the box, and remove the air replace the air filter inside.

I know it's hard to learn things when you're starting off, but stick with it.

P.S. The explanation I just gave is assuming you have the stock intake. Aftermarket intakes are set up a bit different.
