Just out of sheer morbid curiousity, I was wondering.... my ECU just died due to a leaky capacitor, and I haven't been able to find one for my exact car- but I did find an ECU for a 1991 Plymouth Laser RS T 5 Speed....

I have a 1992 Eagle Talon TSi Automatic with the 6 bolt in it.... would there be any serious problems with running the 5 Speed ECU with my car? It would just be until I can afford or find a 1992 Automatic ECU.

Any immediate help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yeah you might run into a few problems like running rich, the autos have smaller injectors than the 5sp, less agressive cams, smaller turbo, so if you dont mind your car running poorly for a while until you find an auto ecu, then go for it(im not sure if it would do damage or not, i know some people have done it though)

oh and i forgot to mention, you dont have to just look for a 92 ecu, any 91-94 ecu from and auto turbo car will work.

You run rich when you put 450s in a auto with a auto ECU but I think you would run lean, until the fuel trims adjusted, from putting a 5 speed ECU in an auto since the 390s wouldn't spray as much fuel as the 450's the ECU is expecting.

Just about how much work do you think it would take me to pull the cams, injectors, and turbo off of the 5-speed and put it on? To make the five speed ECU a more "permanent" addition.

Would it be worth it?

Whoops sorry about that saying youd run rich, you would in fact run lean, i got em mixed around OMG But yeah switching over the cams, injectors, and turbo from a five speed is well worth it for an auto. As long as you do the work yourself it should be fairly inexpensive too.
