i have a 1997 eclipse spyder gs 2.4L i got it for an amazing price and im slowly doing work to it. i have a couple of questions though that i wanna ask you guys being that this is the first time ive dealt with anything other than an audi or beemer LOL i wanna change the exhaust system but i hear that i can only go with a catback because the headers and downpipe need to be custom made. is this true? i wanna have a nice sound to the car, hp increase would be nice but im not expecting miracles from a pipe ;) also part two to my question LOL i want to put RED fog lights and so far i found these LED lights...

H3-WHP Daytime Running Lamps Specifications

and i was wondering if i cap a red lense on the fogs and instal these would it work and look good? please let me know your opinions guys!

Well catbacks are the way to go, especially if you want a nice sound. I would suggest Megan racing, or a nice N1 3" catback.

i dont think the red would look good.
at all, but thats just me.

i say keep them the way they are, if you feel like changing anything, change the headlights, get HIDs or some nice bulbs.

yeah red wouldnt be legal but id only want them for show.. just to have on once in a while LOL.. im doing the HID's soon but im waiting to get my new headlights and tailights come in first.. would anyone be able to link me to a great HID kit and a decent sounding exhaust system for my car? thanks ! highly appreciated

If all you are wanting is good sound and have a 2.4, I recommend just a muffler. You can get an Apex N1 or HKS universal on the cheap from ebay. Just make sure they're real. From there, go to an exhaust shop and have them take your stock one out and weld in your new one at any angle you desire. It looks good, sounds decent, and is easy on the wallet compared to the catback option. Adding a cold air intake to the combo will produce some sound as well. Hope this helps.

thanks alot man ! ill check into that.. ive never done that really because i like doing everything myself and i hate welding its a pain LOL i stick with bolt on but for this project ill take a look into it.. LOL any ideas on how to get the RED FOG look?

My advise for the red fog light look is to not do it. I recall the hype about the washer nozzle lights that would sell at a lot of the auto stores and do recall how many people I heard complain about getting pulled over for having red and blue or hyper white ones. You might be able to do it to one of your reverse lights but I would highly suggest you do not do it to your foglights. I will also point out that a majority of cops will pull you over for them and ticket you.

I found this on a federal website with lighting laws.

"We also call your attention to S5.1.3 which, in effect, prohibits additional motor vehicle equipment that impairs the effectiveness of lighting equipment required by Standard No. 108. Any styling feature or other part of a motor vehicle that is in front of the lens of a headlamp in use has the potential to impair the light output of the lamp. Even if there is no impairment initially, grills and covers prevent the lamps from being cleaned. Covers themselves are susceptible to accumulations of dirt and moisture on their inner surface. These accumulations on the outer surface of the headlamp lens can cause glare and reduction in roadway illumination"

On a side note, if you still wish to get the red foglight look, go to wal-mart and buy some red transparent model paint and paint the lense. Make sure it says transparent though.

i thought about the paint ive done the transparent paint to my motorcycle.. hm but i think you've persuaded me to not get them. i dont think its worth spending money to get tickets LOL id barely have them on anyway LOL so now i just gotta keep up my search for the exhaust pieces and put them together.

oh guys i came across this exhaust and i was wondering if it will fit?

MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust

its ahrd finding one for this car that isnt custom! ahh

That looks very similar to most of the exhausts for the GSTs. You can get a GReddy for around that same price and I have heard good things about those.

If you exhaust is routed the same as the picture below, then I would say yes. Sorry for the large picture but it was the only one I could find. Don't worry about the extra stuff there just look at from the rear of the catalytic converter to the muffler.
