Hi guys I'm trying to do a little logging and tuning with my car, so I've already read my ecu and saved the ROM. Now when I try to open the ROM in Ecuflash, I'm getting a little window that pops up and says:

Unkown ROM Image
Ecuflash could not recognize this ROM image using any of the current definitions. You can choose one of the following options:

O Abort using this ROM image
O Use wizard to create new definition (NOT RECOMMENDED!! FOR DEVELOPERS ONLY!!

So where should I go from here? I tried to use the wizard, and I selected "Inherited from the definition below" and then selected "1999 Mitsubishi USD Eclipse GSX AWD (EM2643). So I click finish and it shows the ROM info, but no tables to edit. What am I doing wrong here? All help is appreciated.

Yeah don't do the inherit thing. This happened to me and I got ahold of ECUFlash, they got me running again but I can't remember how. I think it had something to do with how I opened the file, or the OS, or where it was saved..

Wait, do you have the proper XML?

It's included in Ceddy's zip package you download. You need to put it in the right file location for ECUflash. I dont remember the filepath name off the top of my head...but it is mentioned in Ceddy's thread about flashing on this site.

Ok I've already downloaded Ceddy's latest package, so I'm just waiting for someone to chime in about the right file location. I tried unzipping it and opening in Ecuflash, but the same window of "could not recognize rom image" came up.

Does anyone know the filepath? I'd email Ceddy about it, but he's probably got hundreds of emails a day from people like me with questions like this.

Without having my laptop handy there should be a fairly obvious directory within C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\, I used Google, you should learn it.

Oh duh! It worked out just like you said. Thanks so much! I tagged your post as helpful :)
