Haltom City,
I need some help..I'm trying to remove my bad crank pulley and I don't own an impact gun to remove the bolt. Is there another option I can take in removing this large bolt.

When i removed mine i made a tool to keep it from turning, i got a long peice of steel with holes in it and put 2 bolts through it so they fit in 2 holes of the crank pulley and wedged the pole against the ground so it wouldnt spin. I'll make a little sketch so you know what i mean.

*edit* heres the sketch

You dont want to remove that big one in the center. Just the 4 around it. Also its going to be tight trying to get it out of there. I had to remove the motor mount above it and then lower the motor for clearance. IF you want I cant explain this iin more detail just let me know.

Exactly right. However I didn't need to lower the engine, I was able to slip it on and off without having to maneuver the motor at all. Just remove the splash shield, remove the belts, back out the four bolts and wiggle the pulley off. YMMV

Just *DO NOT* over tighten those four bolts, I snapped one. After that little adventure I replaced all four with new grade 8 hardware.

Yea hes right about tightening. Also Make sure you get a torque wrench to do it if you tighten all the bolts uneven then the pulley will wobble, and wont last nearly as long as it should.

I don't see how you pulled that off. Theres no room to fit this pulley out unless you drop the motorWTF

theres plenty of room to remove the crank pulley without lowering the motor. you can remove the drivers side tire if that helps. just undo the 4 bolts and it will pop right off. theres a little pin on there so you can position the new pulley correctly.

On a 98 you'll need to drop the engine. I just used two socket wrenches going in different directions . Used one to hold the unit steady while loosening the other bolts. Then loosened the last the same way.
