HELP with COTTER PINS....!

i went to swap shift cables so i could adjust them and i got everything except the DAMN COTTER PINS on the tranny! i cant get either of them out. and i pulled with a pliars and everything and ended up breaking like all the ends off. they dont seem to be rusted in cuz they both turned in the hole. i spent 2 of the worst hours trying to get them out. what the hell can i even do? do i have to clip them and just drill them out or drill a new hole now? sob i gotta drive to work tomarrow.

Next time, straighten the bent ends and use a cotter pin removal tool- it's like an awl your mother tried to stop the lawn mower with.

Now, try pushing the pieces out with a drill bit the same size as the hole. Use the unsharpened end, and try not to snap it off too many times. Clamp it with some Channelocks, and wear safety glasses. Oh, and hose them down with PB Blaster.

yea its true u should do things RIGHT the first time. but i went out in the garage to get something outta the freezer and said what the heck and in 2minutes got one out. its funny how much better of a job u can do when you take breaks and ur not screaming swearwords for all the neighbors to hear. warm humid days with absolutely no wind working in a garage are the worst!

Cut them out. Use new ones. Works every time.

nm i went inside to eat and take a break and went out all cool calm and collected and worked it out very quickly. but i have a new problem..... which ill do a new post on.
