Just got a great deal on a set of unused crane 272's with fidanza cam gears for 300 bucks and i know they are not hks but couldnt pass it up.Well i decided to go ahead and replace the springs and retainers but could not find any how to articles on it. If anybody could offer installation instructions i would greatly appreciate it:dsm:

Your best bet is take it to a machine shop and have them do it. I had mine done for $50 at a local machine shop.

Or you will have to buy a valve spring compressor that will work with the Mitsubishi heads. The cheapest one I have seen was a little over $100. So unless you plan on doing it multiple times it will be cheaper to have a machine shop do it.

Thats a link to a tool, its 85 bucks. It's a fairly complicated process in which if you mess up, your gonna have to pull your head and that would require replacing the head gasket and possibly resurfacing the head etc and headstuds.

Basically when you have the cams and etc out you stick rope or string into the cylinder and rotate the crank so that it compresses the string. By doing this you put pressure on the valve so it does not move. If it does well your screwed LOL. Also there have been some people who tried to force it and damaged a rod. I would also advise you to let a shop do it.

I would rather spend more money on one like this. YA9140A, Compressor, Valve Spring, Universal
