I picked up this 95 awd turbo talon for 1200 and have turned it into my project car, while I was under the car fixing the busted U joint I noticed these 5 lines running under then with a pretty good crimp mark accross all of them, Im pretty sure it hit something pretty damn hard and shoved the entire control arm mounting plate into the unibody of the car smashing those lines in the process. Can anyone tell me what these 5 Lines do and what a good way to go about replacing them or fixing them would be. All the junk yards in my area have no turbo Eclipse or talon lines just non turbo ones and they look different.

Fuel Feed Line, Fuel Return Line, Fuel Tank Vent to Charcoal Canister, Driver's Side Rear Brake Line, Passenger's Side Rear Brake Line. Not in that specific order but that's what they are.

The fuel lines, I would just cut them off clean with a tubing cutter then re-connect them with some rubber fuel hose and clamps

The brake line you can cut out about a foot. Then Flare the ends. Then you can buy a 1 foot piece of brake line and screw it all together tight!

You can do the flare fitting fix on all of the lines to do a cleaner job.

Obviously the right way to do it would be to get some new lines. If you have the cash you can run some Stainless steel -AN lines

How good would the compression or flare fittings stand up to the pressure if I cut the lines and put a new piece in where its crimped? I wanna stay away from SS lines I heard lots of bad stories about them and I like piece of mind.

I'm curious as to what are the stories you heard. I have a full -6 AN SS line from the fuel pump to the fuel rail and it works fines.

I guess the steel wears away at the rubber and your brakes can just up and fail because you wont know untill its too late, Happens more often than it does with the metal or rubber ones I guess heres some threads if you click on the links people posted theres some pretty scary info. I dont think the fuel lines would be as much of an issue as the brakes if it failed though, unless you were gettin busy with the throttle.

Flare fittings shouldn't be a problem holding the pressure since the fittings that are already connecting the lines together are flare fittings. Buy a little hand bender, some tubing from an auto parts store and a flaring tool and get busy. Shouldn't be too hard.

I wish people would stop quoting DSMtalk stuff. Notice it's 8 years old? A) Thats talking about the stainless lines that go from the body to the caliper and B) with the insane rise in stainless
line usage I'm sure the reputable companies have sorted out any problems they may have had. I've had stainless brake lines on my CBR for about 3 years now and they still look brand new.

For a fix I would re-flare all 5 of the lines and replace with hard lines and unions. Compression fittings might work with the fuel lines but not the brake lines so why not just do it right.
