i jus bought a 91 gsx..i have been out of the dsm world for a quick sec, i had a 2g tsi and barely got to mess with it before i left for the army and sold it..sooo to the grits with it..first off the guy didnt know what he was doing and hacked out pretty much half the vac lines..(which i remember is not cool with dsm) missing a wastegate silonoid...he said the MAF might be going bad..(dont think thats it) but on a pull no matter if i am leaning into the gas or stomping it, it seems to have like a fuel cut or a stutter only on full petal though..other than that it runs great just driving normal or at idle..but when ya put the beans to it it makes 4-5 psi and jerks and cuts hard!..a friend told me to cut the BS and get v3 dsmlink..so my questions are..what is creating this..and would dsmlink make all my worries go away after tinkering for awhile..thank you for all you help!!!

Some need to know info here. Is it a stock turbo? With vac lines gone youre probably losing boost pressure. Without a boost controller you need the wastegate solenoid. Check for boost leaks and shaft play on the turbo. And if this is a stock car i wouldnt burn the money on link right away

I second^^^ also I'm no expert, and I just did a head swap with new timing belts, head gaskets, ect basically the 60,000 mile tune up on my gst. I learned alot from just reading and doing. Take a Saturday and just look over some things search for boost leak tester spend the few dollars at home depot and build it, use it. little data like that will help you in the end. Did me. I wrote down all likely problems, than just eliminated one by one through test/replacement whichever. congrats on getting back to dsm's by the way i did the same sold my rs-t when i joined the army finally this last year i've been able to purchase and build on a gst! Happy tuning!

the guy said it was a big 16g but i dont know how to tell the deference the housing says TDO5H but i always thought that was a stock cold side or housing at most, so can i replace the wastegate silonoid with a boost controller? i would go that route if i can..but first is first i am goin to replace all the VAC lines and go from there..thank you all for your info and links!

Oh boy. Do not cut the balance shaft belt. Unless you meant cut the bullshit. You could have a clogged cat, a boost leak, improperly gapped plugs, off timing marks or electrical problems. Narrow them down. Do a BLT.

LOL ya he meant cut the bullshit..now i was just in the middle of doing some research on BLT and it seems there are more than one version..seems everyone has their own way..i will def get some new plugs in there and gap them myself, i remember doing alittle bit of timing stuff from when i shot a belt off my tsi at 19psi LOL but thank you for all the help..would love to get started today but its pouring down rain here..sucks..OH! should i make a tester or just buy one? what do yall recommend?? thanks again

make one def, easy enough get a pvc round end piece, valve stem and a coupler to fit the end piece and turbo opening. I have two personally because my intercooler piping is 3 inches and my turbo inlet is 2.25 inches or something so it was easier for me to have two seperate ones. if you have a compressor with a gauge on it or a regulator you can use that instead of putting a guage on your blt. or if you have a boost gauge have someone sit in the car and read it so you don't put to much air in the system.

thanks for the video and the advice, i got a buddy that is coming down from ohio that is pretty dsm smart. and he is going to help me get it close as possible back to stock just for a starting point, (plus to show me the ropes). i tell ya this guy really did a number on this car, let me just say i have gutted the car and now i have a checklist of problems.. if only the rain would go away so i can start on them
