HELP throttle body spacers!!!

hey i own a 2G eclipse GS with a 4G64 engine. i recently saw THROTTLE BODY SPACERS online at a website stating that if i buy it and install it it will increase 25HP. OK so i know maybe not 25hp, but for you guys that knows this im new to tuning Dsm's so do they add hp at all? maybe 5hp or something? if they do add i want to buy them and does it affect the engine in any way having them? Please help me out guys thanks.

You won't get any horsepower from them. And you might notice a cooler throttle body, but doubtful. The nice thing about them though is that they're reuseable. That's about it.

It doesn't heat up the air going into the intake manifold as much. Colder are is better. But I doubt they would make any noticeable difference in cooling.

Wait a minute..Brian you said colder tb temps..In turn, wouldn't that mean colder IAT, Colder intake manifold, more power.. Does anyone have the tb spacer and a logger of some sort that measures that stuff?

Couldn't be worth more than 1 or 2 degrees, IF it makes any temp difference at all. Doubt the logger would show any improvement.

the thing is not always about a cooler throttle body, but the velocity of the air going in will make gas atomization better and improve combustions. imho i would buy it because you will notice a small increase in gas mileage. the thing you have to watch out for is all the stock piping going to bolt up the same because the throttle body will now be closer to the air box.

For $50 you can get a hard intake for the Spyder that'll net you better gains.

Well i do have intake with INJEN filter .I got the cold air intake modified by me to fit my car because it was a little hard for me to find it, but if having the intake +Throttle body spacers wont do much than i wont buy it, unless anyone know a way to gain a little hp in my car let me know.

I was using it as a generic upgrade path as you aren't a turbo car.

yea i have a exhaust and intake headers IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND FOR SPYDERS. any other advices ? is nitrous safe? will it mess up my engine?

It's safe if installed correctly. I really don't see a use for it unless you're taking the car to a drag strip. I wouldn't use it driving on the street.

Try searching 4g64 on here and see what you can find.

they should of made AT LEAST headers for the 4G64 engines.hard to mess with a engine that offers 2 upgrades and i dont have enough green for a 4g63T swap or i would take it from a 92 eclipse and swap since the ones in 90-92 I THINK has no crankwalk issues and are pretty strong.

Pointless garbage. Maybe if you have an extremely modified car making 500+ hp and needed that last little tweak to get another hp or two but not on anything else.

There's no evidence that a spacer improves velocity at all. That would vary wildly from engine to engine, with so many variables you could never claim improvements except for the exact same setup that it was measured on.

Even if you increased velocity it would only effect atomization in a carbureted application where fuel was mixed with the air in the manifold. It wouldn't have any atomization improvements on a port injected engine.

If a 4G64 has engine coolant running through the throttle body a spacer isn't going to make anything any cooler.

Think about it... if a small, simple, plastic device could gain 25 horsepower EVERYBODY would have them. It'd be the number one mod everyone did to their car first. On the contrary, they are generally useless.

Don't waste your money!
