last year i bought an auto 91 gsx pulled the motor, then a 95 tsi awd 5 speed with tranny and no motor or ecu. now i did some reading on ecu's here but didn't help. i called a used parts place and he said he had 4 listed and without the OE number he couldnt help. he said call the dealership. i called mitsubishi and asked the difference, he didn't know (parts counter)
so my question is which one do i tell the guy to order, without having the old ecu or OE number, he said he had 4 different ones, is it-
1 eprom M/T, 2 non-eprom M/T
3 eprom A/T, 4 non-eprom A/T ?
thats all i can think of, cause all 95-99 ecu's/harness's are the same right?
also, (obviously) i want the eprom? and if any honest guy who wont sell me a smoked ecu has a good one for sale?:D

If all you're looking for is an EPROM ECU, either of the two part numbers will work (MD309947 and MD312464). Just make sure you get a picture or confirmation of some sort that it is an EPROM. Auto or manual doesn't matter.

It is however a dumb title. Next time please use something descriptive of your question. If people try to search for this, they probably won't find this thread.

thanks 714, is there some way i can change my title? i figured you wisemen would over look ecu questions cause there are a lot of them that could be found reading, i have found them on accident, like how to tell if its eprom or not, or if its bad or not. and one more question, i know the the automatics have the smaller turbo and injectors, the ecu's not programed different for that? i feel like an ass, i could have taken the one out of the 91 i scrapped.

no, the 91 6 bolt motor is going into the 95. you said auto or manual doesn't matter, thats why i asked if the auto was programed different due to the smaller turbo/injectors, i thought it was thats why i didnt take my 91 ecu, it was auto. sorry about the mix-up i dont mean to keep this going, thanks again i appreciate the help.

If you're doing a 6 bolt swap, the engine does not matter when making an ECU choice. It is what body your car is. If you have a 1g body, you use a 1g ECU. If you have a 2g body, you use a 2g ECU. So those two part numbers I posted earlier are for 2g EPROM ECU's, which are only found in '95 cars. In 2g cars, there is no difference between auto and manual ECU's.
