ok my fellow DSMers! HELP! I have a 90 :talon: TSI AWD 5spd. I rebuilt da engine, everything stock items, replaced rings, pistons, LOTS of gaskets, o-rings, fluids, belts, maint. stuff and xtras. But now I DO NOT HAVE SPARK! I did put in MSD superconductor wires, but doubt thats da prob. for not gettin spark. I took off da C.A.S.(crankshaft angle sensor) to make sure it was correctly installed and it was. Got stock NGK plugs sized them .030 and put 1 cyl. at TDC. align marks aligned...notches where they have 2 b and cams both 'pointin upwards'. so, what can it be? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND POINTERS.

When I rebuilt my Starion motor I forgot to plug in the distrib harness and was flipping out I didnt have spark Always check everything. Even the dumb things.

Are you not geting spark? (Tested with a timing light for it? Attach the light to the spark wires when cranking and if you get light, you have spark) If you have spark, but the engine just isnt starting check your ignition timing. Car wont start if its completly off. Its common to get it 180* out

Look on the back of the motor where the pack plugs in, theres 2 plugs that need to be plugged in. Just double check and make sure there plugged in, they are very easy to miss. As I did and for 2 days I was throwing shit threw my garage walls. :) :shhh:

ok, well I aligned the Crank Angle Sensor if thats what you are talkin about. Both notches are aligned and pushed in to the cam. I did not adjust da timing by moving the CAS. The way it went it thats the way I left it and tightened it.
"Look on the back of the motor where the pack plugs in, theres 2 plugs that need to be plugged in." <blue92Laser> The 'pack'? The coil pack? What to plugs? is it beneathe the intake manifold or just behind the head? the space between the intake manny where the coil bolts on to?
"When I rebuilt my Starion motor I forgot to plug in the distrib harness and was flipping out I didnt have spark" <Mike Markota> The distrib harness? I dont have a distributor. The do you mean the coil harness? or the power transistor harness? The harness for the pwr transistor was breaking so I spliced in another 1. I spliced in other connections that were missing 2 and still doesnt start. Did that yesterday. therefore I still need HELP and hopefully I keep getting it. TY.

ok, n/m. I figured out my problem. I had connected the CAS in the wrong connector. I also had the tps disconnected, but still started. I connected the tps and adj its voltage and now runs fine. well i have small vac leaks so its not runnin perfect. But thats good for now. well actually damn belts squeakin and i adjusted all of them all are new and still squeakin at a low rpm usually below 3k and usually only 1 & 2nd gears. Ah yes and my damn pretty ass valve cover is gettin wet w/oil. A buddy of mine he thinks i might have put in the gaskets under the valve cover....da plug gaskets wrong. I put the flat side facing the cylinder head. is it wrong or should it go w/da flat side facing up(facin da valve cover)?? thanks!

no your right flat side facing down towards the head. But alot of times the inside of the valve cover if you over tighten it 3-5 feet lbs of torq it will hair line crack and you can bearly see it in the bottom right hand corner.
